Michael Gomez begins his fourth season as the Director of Operations for Wichita State women’s basketball.
As the Director of Operations at WSU, Gomez handles duties for travel, equipment, team meals, community service, team calendar, and practice schedules. He serves as the Camp Director while continuing to assist with social media, manage and recruit for the practice squad, help with on-campus visits from recruits, and other operational duties.
As a graduate assistant with the Shockers for two years prior to being hired full-time, Gomez was the game film and technology liason. He assisted with social media and maintaining the recruiting database while also assisting coaches in workouts, plays, and drills. Additionally, he was in charge of the practice squad, including recruiting players for that purpose.
Gomez earned his undergraduate degree in sports management with a business minor from the University of Kansas in 2010. After earning a spot on the practice team, he spent two years as a manager for the women’s basketball team. His duties included assisting coaches in practice, working in the equipment room, game setup, and preparing and assisting with team travel needs. He also spent one semester as an intern with the women’s basketball team, where he earned extensive experience with video and technology.
Immediately following his time at Kansas, Gomez served as an assistant coach at St. Francis University in Joliet, Ill.
Michael is the son of Henry Gomez and Jalima Cuesta and resides in Wichita.
