Tony Blake

Tony Blake is in his fourth season as assistant coach at Wichita State.  A member of the first team Grier Jones coached at WSU, Blake brings significant experience both as an amateur and professional. 

In a relatively brief amount of time, Blake has had a significant impact, helping the Shockers to 11 wins in three years.  He has aided in the development of the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Missouri Valley Conference Golfers-of-the-Year, Rafael Becker, Hunter Sparks and Louis Cohen Boyer, and 2014 MVC Newcomer-of-the-Year Grant Bennett, while helping the Shockers to their fifth, sixth and seventh-straight MVC titles and 19th, 20th and 21st NCAA appearances. In his three seasons, WSU has produced 14 All-MVC performers and three MVC Championship medalists.

At WSU, Blake is the recruiting coordinator while also coordinating practice schedules and overseeing player development. 

Blake was a member of the Shocker golf team from 1994 to 1996 and was a two-year letterman after redshirting in 1994.  Prior to Wichita State Blake was a member of the Butler County Community College golf team where he was the 1993 Region IV Champion. 

Following his career after Wichita State, Blake was a Tear Drop Tour Member, Prairie Tour Member, South Dakota tour participant, Nike Tour participant and Sunshine Tour Member.  Blake regained his amateur status in 2003.  In 2004, Blake was crowned the Kansas State Mid-Amateur Champion.

The Wichita native graduated from Wichita State in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education- Sports Business. Blake and his wife Cara have two children, daughters Crandall and Carlin.
