At the end of the 2022-23 Athletics year, the Wichita State Athletic Department distributed a Fan Experience Survey to gather direct feedback from Shocker fans pertaining to their gameday experience across all athletic events. We received over 1,000 survey responses!
Feedback from the survey responses inspired the Your House on the Prairie campaign designed to improve upon shortcomings and enhance The Shocker Fan Experience utilizing innovative fan experience practices throughout the sports entertainment industry. We want to compete with the at-home viewing experience by making Charles Koch Arena feel like your home on gamedays!

Season Ticket Holder Benefits & Appreciation

ALL-IN-1 Mobile Ticketing - Introduced on August 18th and designed to simplify the digital wallet experience while revolutionizing the way Shocker fans manage their mobile season tickets.
Season Ticket Holder Gift - Introduced on August 23rd, we've teamed up with Dondlinger Construction to provide volleyball, women's basketball, and men's basketball season ticket holders a token of our appreciation -- a Charles Koch Arena replica! Facility Improvements
Handrails in Upper Bowl - Introduced on August 25th, and through a partnership with Wichita State University's Innovation Campus, we've addressed one of the most common pieces of feedback from the 2022-23 Fan Experience Survey -- adding handrails to the upper bowl of Charles Koch Arena.

Opengate Security Scanners - Introduced on August 28th, Opengate Security Scanners improve the entry process into Charles Koch Arena to make it simpler and more efficient for fans while maintaining the highest level of safety.Â

Young Alumni Season Ticket - Introduced on September 1, we are now offering an affordable men's basketball season ticket option for college graduates who have obtained a 4-year degree within the past 5 years. Game Presentation Enhancements

Increased Usage of The Shocker Sound - our fans love our band and we do too which is why we are making it an emphasis to utilize them more at our arena events by adding additional scripted pieces to our run of show and building in more halftime performances in the fall semester.
National Anthem - we try to keep the Shocker Gameday Experience fresh by doing new things, but sometimes tradition trumps all which is why we are going back to having The Shocker Sound perform the National Anthem each and every men's basketball game as you, the fans, proudly sing along!
Enhanced Team Introductions - we have once again teamed up with CUE Audio to provide fans the opportunity to participate in a light show synchronized to the music in our team's intro video by downloading the GoShockers App and going to the "Shocker Lights" feature at the bottom of the main menu. We have also added cryo carts that eject frozen CO2 (pictured below) as each individual player is introduced.

A New Tradition - Following the singing of our National Anthem and Alma Mater, we invite you to join Shocker Cheer & Dance as they lead our new "W-S-U Shockers!" chant that we hope echoes loudly throughout Charles Koch Arena as build up to our team running out of the tunnel.
Our Exclusive In-Arena Host - Fayola Oyatayo is on-board as our exclusive in-arena host to drive energy and add flare to our on-court promotions.
Lane McDonalds T-Shirt Guns -Â Thanks to our sponsor Lane McDonalds, we are now able to reach fans in the upper-bowl during our t-shirt tosses!
More Halftime Shows -Â We are making a concerted effort to ensure that all of our games contain some type of halftime programming. The Shocker Sound Machine will carry us through the fall semester (their marching season) and we will book local and national talent to perform during conference play.Â
In-Venue Fan Engagement via Cellular Interactivity - We have partnered with Tagboard and CUE Audio to provide fans the opportunity to engage more deeply with the Shocker Gameday Experience! Fans can continue to take part in our pregame light show during team introductions, compete amongst other fans in trivia contests, share their social media posts to the videoboard, vote on the song for our Ziggy's Dance Cam, and vote on our Great Clips Great Performer of the Game.

The Shock Block - Our marketing & branding team will increase usage of "The Shock Block" verbiage, logos, and marks to establish and build brand awareness and unity within the student section
Increased On-Campus Presence -Â Our marketing & fan engagement staff will perform weekly tabling appearances across campus to engage students more often while sharing information about upcoming events
Increased Online Presence - We have designated a student intern within athletics to serve as the primary account manager for our Shock Block accounts to ensure that we are engaging students frequently and effectively via social media and other digital platforms
Establishment of Student Section Leadership - We have established a leadership body for the student section that includes students from diverse backgrounds across campus to meet monthly with input that will directly lead to enhancements they would like to see brought to The Shock Block.
