SCOUTING KANSAS CITY
Kansas City is in the midst of playing eight games in seven days with a pair of midweek games this week against Missouri State and Wichita State. The Roos have lost five in a row and stand 14-27 overall. They are just 1-14 in road games. Kansas City has played 41 games and hit only 2 home runs all season, ranking second to last in all of the NCAA. Megan Johnston is responsible for both of those home runs to go with a team-high 19 RBIs. The Roos hit .257 as a team with 32 doubles and 10 triples. Leilani Bustamante hits a team-best .329 with 5 doubles. Ella Husak is the only other Roo hitting over .300 at .322. In the circle, Kansas City sports a 5.47 ERA with 111 strikeouts and 113 walks. Delilah Robles is the ace of the staff, logging 123.1 innings. She is 10-14 with a 3.63 ERA and 7 complete games. Opponents are hitting .293 against her with 51 walks and 62 strikeouts.

SERIES HISTORY
Wichita State holds a commanding 42-9 lead in the all-time series with Kansas City, formerly UMKC. The series dates back to 1993 with the Shockers winning the first five meetings. Wichita State has won 10 straight over the Roos. KC hasn't beat Wichita State since 2013.

LAST MEETING VS. THE ROOS
Wichita State belted five home runs in a 15-2 run-rule rout of Kansas City last April at Wilkins Stadium. Ellee Eck tied a single game school record with three home runs to go with a career-high six RBIs. Lauren Lucas and Taylor Sedlacek added two-run home runs of their own. Wichita State's five home runs tied a season high.

LAST TIME OUT
Wichita State is coming off a second straight conference series sweep, taking down Charlotte on the road in dominant fashion. The Shockers won all three games by six or more runs (10-3, 9-3 and 14-4). Wichita State outscored the Niners, 33-10. In the opener, Wichita State scored six runs in the top of the 1st and cruised to a 10-3 victory. Ausha Moore hit the first of five home runs on the weekend with 3 RBIs. Aeryn Shuman and Gabby Scott had a hit and 2 RBIs apiece, while Ryley Nihart allowed only one earned run in the complete game win. In Game 2, Wichita State again opened with a big first inning, scoring four runs. Kinzey Woody homered twice and drove in four runs. Johnna Schroeder hit a two-run home run and Moore homered again. The final game was one for the record books for Moore. The sophomore homered twice in the first inning, as Wichita State scored 9 runs in the top of the 1st. For the game, Moore went 3-for-3 with 3 home runs and a school record 9 RBIs. The Shockers finished off the sweep in run-rule fashion.

MOORE POWER
Ausha Moore is not only on a 5-game hitting streak, she's homered in 5 straight games. Over her last 5 games, she's hitting .583 (7-for-12) with 7 HR, 10 runs scored, 16 RBIs and 8 walks. In the series vs. Charlotte, Moore homered 5 times in the series with 13 RBIs. Her big weekend in the Queen City earned her American Conference Player of the Week honors. She has earned POW honors three times this season.

QUEEN AUSHA
Ausha Moore put her name in the Wichita State record books in the series finale at Charlotte on April 19. The Del City, Okla., native tied the single game school record with 3 home runs, while breaking the single game record for RBIs with 9. She started the game with 2 home runs in the Top of the 1st - a 2-run homer and a grand slam.

THE SHUMAN SHOW
Since being inserted into the starting lineup in the final two games of the UTSA series on April 11, sophomore Aeryn Shuman has made the most of her opportunities. Shuman has started the last five games at catcher and is batting .500 (8-for-16) with a double, a home run, 5 runs scored and 5 RBIs. Prior to UTSA series, Shuman had appeared in only six games all season and was 0-for-4 at the plate.

BRINGING THE WOOD(Y)
Kinzey Woody is coming off a scorching weekend series vs. Florida Atlantic. Woody was 8-for-10 with two home runs and three RBIs. She had a hit in eight straight at bats over the three games, going 3-for-3 in Game 1 and 4-for-4 in Game 2. After her stellar week, D1 Softball named Woody the Mid-Major Freshman of the Week. Through 21 conference games, Woody is hitting a team-high .470 (31-for-66) with 6 doubles, 10 home runs, 13 walks, 15 runs scored and 27 RBIs.

HOME RUN CYCLE
Kinzey Woody has 11 home runs so far in her freshman season. The first 4 home runs of her career completed the home run cycle - hitting a walk-off grand slam for her first career home run on Feb. 21 vs. Creighton, a 3-run home run on March 13 vs. UAB, a 2-run home run on March 14 vs. UAB and finally a solo home run vs. FAU on March 20. Not a bad way to start your collegiate career.

RPI - WEEK EIGHT
Wichita State checked in at No. 54 in the eighth week of RPI rankings on April 20. The Shockers have already faced 13 teams in the Top 75, including No. 2 Arkansas, No. 6 Oklahoma, No. 18 Mississippi State, No. 19 Oklahoma State, No. 22 Clemson, No. 31 Texas State, No. 36 South Florida (three times), No. 43 Baylor, No. 46 Missouri, No. 48 Kansas, No. 55 Florida Atlantic (three times), No. 60 Charlotte (three times) and No. 71 Miami (OH).  The Shockers still have a game against No. 48 Kansas.
