STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Wichita State assistant coach Aliyah Fertig took sixth in the pole vault at the USATF Indoor Championships on Sunday, March 1 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
 
Following the American Conference Indoor Championships on February 27-28 in Birmingham, Ala., where Fertig coached her pole vault squad to 17 points, three personal bests and the highest heptathlon pole vault clearance of the competition, the 26-year old from Monticello, Ill. hopped a plane to Staten Island, N.Y. to compete at the USATF Indoor Championships.
 
Fertig cleared 4.45m/14'7.25", the second-highest bar of her career, to place sixth in the United States to cap her elite indoor season.
