Wichita State’s Game with Oklahoma State Suspended Due to Weather

3/10/2026 10:05:00 PM

STILLWATER, Okla. — Wichita State's game with Oklahoma State was suspended with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning with the Shockers leading 8-3 due to lightning near Cowgirl Stadium.

The game will be concluded on April 8 when the Cowgirls visit Wichita for a game at 6 p.m.

After being shut out in back-to-back games, Wichita State's offense got in gear early against the Cowgirls as Gabby Scott hit a two-run home run in the top of the first to open the scoring. Later in the inning, Jodie Epperson dropped a two-run double into center field to make the score 4-0 through the opening frame.

Neither side scored in the second inning, but Chloe Rhine added another pair of runs in the top of the third with a home run, extending the Shockers' lead to 6-0.

After Ryley Nihart twirled a scoreless fourth inning, Brookelyn Livanec ripped a two-run single through the infield to give the Shockers an 8-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth, Oklahoma State avoided the run rule, scoring a run on an RBI double to make the score 8-1.

The Shockers were unable to add to their lead in the sixth, and the Cowgirls cut into the deficit to 8-3 with a two-run home run to left-center in the bottom of the inning.

With two Cowgirls on base and one out in the bottom of the seventh, the game entered a weather delay due to lightning in the area. After a brief delay, it was determined that the game would be concluded when the teams meet in Wichita later in the season.
