CHANDLER, Ariz. – Wichita State bounced back from a 4-3 loss against UNLV earlier in the day to earn its first win of the season with a 6-1 victory over New Mexico State on Saturday at Chandler Tennis Center.

The Shockers (1-3) split the doubleheader with UNLV (1-0) and New Mexico State (0-3), playing the final two matches of a three-match stretch at Chandler Tennis Center.

In doubles, the Shockers fell to the Rebels, dropping their third doubles point of the year.
Felix Bockelmann-Evans and
Ilias Worthington lost 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, while
Rodrigo Cruz and
Pablo Roche Alcaya fell 7-5 at No. 3, clinching doubles for UNLV.

In singles, Bracks and Roche Alcaya quickly got the Shockers back in the match with swift wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. Roche Alcaya won 6-0, 6-3, and Bracks won 6-2, 6-2 to give Wichita State a 2-1 lead.

The Rebels answered back with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Jacome at No. 1 singles and a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Worthington at No. 2 to move back ahead at 3-2.Â

UNLV clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win over
Amir Milushev at No. 3.

Zaid Al Mashni earned a tight 7-5, 7-5 win to close the match with a 4-3 score.

New Mexico State entered the match shorthanded, having only five players for the match. As a result, No. 3 doubles was a forfeit win for the Shockers. Jacome and Worthington earned a swift 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles to lock up the point for Wichita State.

In singles, No. 6 was also awarded to the Shockers as a forfeit, giving them a 2-0 advantage.

Bockelmann-Evans earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles for his first singles win as a Shocker, putting Wichita State up 3-0.Â

Worthington fell 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1, putting the Aggies on the board and making the score 3-1.

Jacome sealed the Shockers' first win of the season with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles to make the score 4-1.

Rodrigo Cruz won 7-6 (6), 6-2 at No. 4 singles, earning his first career singles win and putting the Shockers up 5-1.
Milushev closed out the day with a 6-7 (6), 6-3, 1-0 (2) win at No. 3 singles.
