Openers
  • Wichita State men's tennis is in its third season under head coach Darragh Glavin
  • The Shockers are 5-5 after beating UTSA and Incarnate Word on February 23
  • WSU 2-3 on the road this year with losses to three ranked teams in UCF (13), South Florida (36), and Arkansas (34)

By the Numbers
  • Ilias Worthington leads the team singles wins with seven
  • In doubles, the pair of Jacome and Minarik have won six matches to lead the team
  • In lineup positions, Minarik and Vanja Hodzic are a combined 7-1 this year playing at line two singles, with Minarik at 5-0 and Hodzic at 2-1 in that spot
Fall Success
  • The Shocker pair of Kristof Minarik and Alejandro Jacome had a very successful fall, collecting wins over multiple power four opponents and collecting doubles wins in high-level events throughout the fall
  • The duo collected two wins in pre-qualifiers of ITA All-Americans and added two wins at ITA Central Regionals, reaching the doubles semifinals
  • The Regionals performance punched the Shocker ticket to ITA Sectionals in Fort Worth, Texas, where the Shockers battled tough against high-level, ranked doubles competition
  • Elsewhere, true freshmen Luca Mindrut and Ilias Worthington tied for the team lead in singles wins this fall with five
  • Transfer addition Arenui Luethi matched Minarik and Jacome's five fall doubles wins to tie for the team lead in the fall
New Faces
  • The Shocker roster has undergone a shakeup from last season with five new players and two new coaches joining the team for the 2025 spring season
  • The new players consist of four true freshmen in Zaid Al Mashni, Amir Milushev, Mindrut, and Worthington, and one transfer in Luethi
  • Two new coaches will join Coach Glavin on the sideline as Sonam Phuntsok came to Wichita State after serving as an assistant at New Mexico and Joan Grosset moved to Wichita after one year coaching at the University of Omaha
Scouting New Mexico
  • Former Radford and Montana State head coach Rob Bareford is in his first year leading the Lobos
  • UNM is 4-5 on the year, but have yet to play a home match
  • New Mexico enters having lost their last two matches, both to ranked opponents in Middle Tennessee State and Utah

  • New Mexico leads the all-time series with WSU 9-6
  • The Shockers are 4-5 playing the Lobos in New Mexico
  • The team met twice last year, once in Wichita, once in Wilmington, N.C., with UNM winning both matches

  • Santa Clara is 8-4 on the year and 1-1 playing at neutral sites
  • After a 1-3 start, the Broncos have won seven of their last eight with the lone loss being at No. 69 UC Santa Barbara on March 1, 5-2
