WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State dropped its 2025 home opener to the No. 16/15 Oklahoma State Cowgirls 11-2 in five innings on Thursday evening at Wilkins Stadium.

After Wichita State starter
Alex Aguilar got the first two batters out on four pitches in the top of the first inning, the Cowgirls jumped on the Shocker arm, recording four hits with two outs to score three runs and take an early 3-0 lead.

In the bottom half, the Shockers answered with a pair of runs to make it a one-run game.
Taylor Sedlacek walloped a double into the gap in left-center to drive in
Ellee Eck to get the Shockers on the board. Later,
Sami Hood reached first on a fielding error, allowing
Lauren Lucas to come home and make it 3-2.

In the second, OSU loaded the bases courtesy of a base hit and some well-placed bunt singles, but the Cowgirls were only able to bring one run home off of Aguilar in the frame, making the score 4-2.

In the top of the third, the Cowgirls doubled their lead over the Shockers to 6-2 with a two-run home run down the left field line.

After a scoreless fourth inning for both teams, OSU exploded for five runs on six hits in the fifth, taking an 11-2 lead.

The Shockers were unable to bring anyone home in their half of the inning, falling in run-rule fashion to the No. 16/15 Cowgirls, 11-2 in five innings.

Aguilar suffered the loss for the Shockers, falling to 6-2 on the year.Â

Eck added a double in the fifth to finish the day 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Shockers in the hit column.
