Shockers Eclipse Century Mark in Dominant Home Win

WICHITA, Kan. - All five starters scored in double figures and Wichita State cruised to 2-0 in a dominant 105-62 win over Prairie View A&M Saturday night in Charles Koch Arena.

Wichita State (2-0) eclipsed the 100-point mark for the first time since 2021 when the Shockers also did it against Prairie View A&M. The win also pushed the Shockers to 5-0 all time vs. the Panthers. 

All 11 Shockers who suited up scored in the game, including six in double figures. Will Berg, Kenyon Giles and Dre Kindell all led the way with 15 points apiece. Berg's 15 points marked a career high to go with five rebounds on 7-of-8 free throws. Giles scored all 15 of his points before halftime, going 5-for-7 from beyond the arc. Kindell was another key figure off the bench for the second straight game. He was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, and has reached double figures in each of his first two DI games.

TJ Williams collected his first career double-double, going for 14 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals on a perfect 10-of-10 at the free throw line. Karon Boyd added 12 points.

Michael Gray Jr. rounded out the scoring leaders with 13 points, four rebounds and three assists. He was 3-for-6 from long range.

Dillon Battie just missed his first career double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

Wichita State finished the game shooting 52.5 percent from the field, including 10-of-23 from beyond the arc, good for 43.5 percent. The Panthers sent the Shockers to the free throw line 41 times on the night and Wichita State capitalized on 31 of those for 75.6 percent. On the other side, Prairie View finished just 2-of-16 from long range.

The Shockers controlled the glass for the second straight game, outrebounding PVAMU, 45-32.

Wichita State opened the game on a 9–2 run behind back-to-back dunks from Berg and Boyd, setting the tone with physical defense and transition play. Giles hit three triples in the first half to help WSU take a 53–36 advantage at the break.

The second half saw the Shockers continue to pull away, fueled by a 15–0 run midway through the period. WSU's reserves accounted for 36 of the team's 105 points, outscoring Prairie View's bench by nearly 20.
