Bowling Preview: Destination Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The #5-ranked Wichita State women's bowling team begins the 2025-26 regular season at the Destination Orlando tournament in Orlando, Florida, facing off against the nation's best at AMF Sky Lanes. The tournament begins Friday, October 24 and concludes on Sunday, February 26, hosted by Sacred Heart.

The 24-team field features 12 of the top 13 teams in the preseason NTCA Poll, including the top seven.

#1 Jacksonville State, #2 Nebraska, #3 Vanderbilt, #4 Youngstown State, #5 Wichita State, #6 Arkansas State, #7 North Carolina A&T, #9 Louisiana Tech, #10 Maryville. #11 Sacred Heart, #12 Duquesne, #14 Mount St. Mary's, #16 Maryland Eastern Shore, #18 UAB, #19 Tulane, #21 Valparaiso, RV Alabama State, RV Emmanuel, Alabama A&M, Bryant, Florida A&M, Prairie View A&M, Saint Anselm, and Texas Southern.

The schedule of the tournament is as follows:
  • Friday - Five Baker matches starting at 8:25 AM CT
  • Saturday - Five traditional matches starting at 7:25 AM CT
  • Sunday - One Baker match at 7:25 AM CT, followed by two best-of-seven Baker matches to determine final placings

Friday (Baker format)
  • Match 1 vs. #18 UAB (lanes 25-26)
  • Match 2 vs. #12 Duquesne (lanes 21-22)
  • Match 3 vs. #11 Sacred Heart (lanes 11-12)
  • Match 4 vs. #1 Jacksonville State (lanes 13-14)
  • Match 5 vs. Alabama A&M (lanes 19-20)
Saturday (Traditional Format)
  • Match 6 vs. Florida A&M (lanes 5-6)
  • Match 7 vs. #10 Maryville (lanes 25-26)
  • Match 8 vs. Saint Anselm (lanes 19-20)
  • Match 9 vs. #16 Maryland Eastern Shore (lanes 11-12)
  • Match 10 vs. RV Alabama State (lanes 7-8)
Baker matches are structured with five players combining to bowl one game, each bowling two frames. Player one bowls frames 1 and 6, player two bowls frames 2 and 7, player three bowls frames 3 and 8, player four bowls frames 4 and 9 and player 5 bowls frames 5 and 10. In traditional matches, five players each bowl an individual game, with all five games added together.

Last time out, Wichita State finished 10th at the Mid-States Championships when an injury to Ashtyn Woods forced the Shockers to compete with just four bowlers for the majority of the tournament. Morgan Kline and Sara Duque Jimenez earned All-Tournament honors while Aleesha Oden and Kendall Bollea finished in the top 10 individually.
