WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita State Athletics has announced details for this year's Shocker Madness event set for Saturday, Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m., inside Charles Koch Arena. This year's Shocker Madness event once again serves as the culmination of Wichita State's Shocktoberfest homecoming week.

The season tip-off event will include the addition of a Brew Garden & Fan Fest outside of Charles Koch Arena from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. through a partnership with the Wichita State University Foundation & Alumni Engagement Office. The Brew Garden & Fan Fest will feature music provided by DJ Carbon, food trucks, local vendors serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, a massive LED screen showing featured college football games, a pep rally with Shocker Sound Machine and WSU spirit squads and other tailgate activities in a family-friendly atmosphere. The men's and women's basketball teams will also sign autographs at the event from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

There is no cost to attend the Brew Garden & Fan Fest. Food and beverage is available for purchase at each vendor's stand. Fans must be 21+ to drink.

At 6:30 p.m., Shocker Madness will begin inside the arena. The event will feature performances from the Shocker Sound Machine and WSU Spirit Squads, announcements of this year's Shocktoberfest spirit awards and homecoming court winners, introductions of all Wichita State Athletics teams, a special ring presentation ceremony for women's bowling, a three-point contest and basketball team scrimmages.

Doors to Charles Koch Arena open at 5:30 P.M. for the free event and parking is free on a first-come, first-serve basis.

No tickets are required. General admission seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis as arena occupancy allows. Select seating sections within the arena will be reserved for Wichita State University students (sections 117 & 118), Shocker student-athletes and university personnel.

The clear-bag policy and new opengate, walk-through metal detectors will be enforced for those entering Charles Koch Arena.
