OPENING TIP
Wichita State welcomes undefeated No. 9 Oklahoma to The Roundhouse for its fifth-straight home game.
The teams meet for the 23rd time in history with the Sooners leading the series 15-7.
Wichita State has entered year two of the Terry Nooner era.
With nine newcomers on the team, the Shockers return 37.6 percent of their scoring.
Sophomore Salese Blow has led the Shockers in scoring in two games with 16 points against Belmont and 17 points against Missouri State, shooting 4-for-7 from three in the latter.
George Mason transfer and Wichita native Taylor Jameson came home for her final season of collegiate basketball and is making a splash early in the season. She finished in double figures in each of the first four games and dished out a career-high seven assists against Missouri State, earning AAC Honorable Mention weekly recognition on Nov. 18.
Junior transfer from TCU, Bre'Yon White, opened the season with a game-high four steals in the win over Oklahoma Christian and has led the Shockers in rebounding in each of the last three games.
All but one win in the Terry Nooner era have come when holding opponents to less than 70 points.
 
WICHITA STATE VS. RANKED OPPONENTS
In program history, Wichita State owns three wins over nationally ranked opponents in the Coaches Poll and two wins against teams represented in the Associated Press Top 25. The Shockers' most recent victory against a nationally ranked opponent came in 2017-18 when Wichita State defeated then No. 23 South Florida (Coaches Poll) 64-56.
 
Wichita State's last matchup against a ranked opponent came a season ago in the season opener against then No. 23 Oklahoma. The Sooners won 92-68.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Wichita native Taylor Jameson's electric night led the Shockers to a 69-64 win over St. Thomas Saturday afternoon in Charles Koch Arena. The graduate transfer put up 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals, hitting three three pointers for the second-straight game, including a half court buzzer beater to take the Shockers into halftime with a 12-point lead. Two other Shockers finished in double figures as senior Ornella Niankan scored a season-high 11 points, and senior Aicha Ndour recorded her second 10-point game of the season and grabbed six rebounds. Junior Bre'Yon White led Wichita State in rebounding for the third-consecutive game with a season-high 10 boards. Senior Ella Anciaux player her most minutes of the season (15:57) and finished the day with eight points and five rebounds. White came up with a big steal on an inbound play with 23 seconds remaining, and Jameson went on to hit 3-of-4 free throws to secure the Shockers' second win of the season.
 
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
After four games, the Shockers lead the American Athletic Conference in offensive rebounds per game with 18.8, ranking seventh in the nation. Wichita State also ranks second in the AAC in overall rebounds per game (43.8) and 46th in the nation.
 
Taylor Jameson ranks second in the conference in assist/turnover ratio (3.6) and third in total assists (18) with a career-high seven against Missouri State.
 
LEADING LADIES
Through four games, two Shockers are averaging doubles figure with Taylor Jameson leading the team with 14.3 points per game and Salese Blow averaging 10.8. Bre'Yon White is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 8.3 rebounds per game, and Jayla Murray is averaging 7.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game with one double-double.

SCOUTING THE SOONERS
Led by fourth-year head coach Jennie Baranczyk, Oklahoma is coming off three-straight home victories over Southern, Virginia and Western Carolina. The No. 9-ranked Sooners lead the nation in rebound margin (30.3), rebounds per game (58.0), and defensive rebounds per game (39.3).  Three Sooners are averaging double figures through the first three games, led by Oregon State transfer Raegan Beers, who is averaging 24.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. Sahara Williams (16.3) and Skylar Vann (11.7) join Beers averaging double figures. The Sooners rank third in the nation in points per game (97.7) after scoring 122 last time out. Oklahoma was picked fourth of 16 teams in the SEC Preseason Poll after winning the Big 12 regular season title last season and making it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Sooners return all five starters and 98 percent of their scoring from the 2023-24 season. Beers and Vann were both named to the Naismith Trophy National Player of the Year preseason watch list and the Wooden Award watch list.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. OKLAHOMA
Wichita State and Oklahoma meet for the 23rd time in program history. The Sooners lead the series 15-7, but the Shockers have a winning record at home, 6-4. In the most recent meeting in Charles Koch Arena, Wichita State claimed an 88-83 victory on Nov. 30, 2019. The last time the Shockers lost to Oklahoma in The Roundhouse was Dec. 9, 2002.
 
LAST MEETING
A season ago, in its season opener, Wichita State played the No. 23-ranked Sooners close in the first half, taking a four-point lead going into halftime, but the Sooners outscored the Shockers 35-11 in the third quarter and went on to win, 92-68. DJ McCarty led the Shockers with 19 points, and Aubrey Jones scored 19 for the Sooners.
 
NOT SO NEW-COMERS
Between the nine new additions to the 2024-25 Wichita State roster, they combine for 20 years of collegiate basketball experience. Nooner brought in three Division I transfers: Taylor Jameson from George Mason, Aicha Ndour from Illinois and Bre'Yon White from TCU.
 
Princess Anderson (Pratt CC), Kyleigh Ortiz (Coffeyville CC), Jasmine Peaks (Indian River State), and Maimouna Sissoko (Cloud County CC) all transferred from junior colleges, joining Jayla Murray (Florida SouthWestern State) and Ornella Niankan (Odessa College) to make six Shockers who began their careers in the NJCAA.
 
INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR
The Shockers' roster features international athletes from five different countries, including Canada (Ornella Niankan), France (Fiona Diomande), Mali (Maimouna Sissoko), Mozambique (Carla Budane), and Senegal (Aicha Ndour).
 
T-TIME
Wichita native Taylor Jameson was named to the AAC weekly Honorable Mention list on Nov. 18 after averaging 17 points, 6.5 assists and 4 steals in two games. She has led the Shockers in points and assists twice in four games.
 
BOBO DA SHOW
Salese Blow, nicknamed BoBo by her mom when Salese couldn't pronounce the L in her last name as a kid, enters her sophomore season after claiming three American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week awards in 2023-24. As a freshman, she increased her scoring from non-conference to conference play, leading the Shockers in points per game against AAC opponents with 13.5. She recorded 21 double-figure scoring games with five 20+ point performances.
 
MURRAY ON THE RISE
Redshirt-junior Jayla Murray is back and better than ever after a summer spent in the gym and improving her nutrition. Further removed from her ACL injury, Murray, who averaged 7.1 points per game a season ago, is playing with more confidence.
 
NEW HEIGHTS
Senior transfer from Illinois, Aicha Ndour, is the tallest player in Wichita State history at 6-6.
 
SUMMER WELL SPENT
The Shockers embarked on a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands from July 28-August 2, where they played two games against Canadian team, Regina. The trip allowed the team to bond and experience a different culture, growing as a unit on and off the court. Wichita State won the first game 81-76 and the second game 69-60.
