WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State men's tennis head coach
Darragh Glavin announced the addition of two players to his team's 2023-24 roster on Monday afternoon.

The signee pair consists of international signee
Vanja Hodzic and graduate transfer
Marcelo Sepulveda.

VANJA HODZIC
Â
Hodzic, a native of Bosnia and Herzegovina, comes to Wichita State after a very successful amateur career playing in his home nation. In 2019, he won both the summer and winter national championship. He followed the national championships in 2019 with a placement at both the summer and winter national championships in 2020 and 2021. Additionally in 2021, he was the sole representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina while competing at the U18 European Junior Championships in Switzerland.

Hodzic currently possesses a superb Universal Tennis Rating* (UTR) of 12.58 and his rating has reached as high as 12.59.

"Vanja is going to bring some youth and talent to our team," said Glavin. "He's tall, a 6'4 lefty. We're very excited to work with him and see what his strengths are going to be. We think he's got a lot of talent and we're going to be able to help him develop, get stronger, and he'll be able to bring a lot to our program.".

MARCELO SEPULVEDA

Sepulveda comes to Wichita State as a graduate transfer from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida. Prior to his time as an FGCU Eagle, he spent two seasons at the University of Alabama.Â

In his college career, Sepulveda has compiled a 27-14 record in singles and a 40-27 record in doubles. He was an All-Atlantic SunÂ
(ASUN)Â Second Team selection in 2021-22 season as a redshirt-sophomore. He was also named ASUN Men's Tennis Player of the Week on March 15
th, 2022.

"Marcelo is going to add some great depth and experience to our team having played three seasons in college already," said Glavin. "He was high in the lineup in both singles and doubles at FGCU and he's been an impact player for his previous schools, so he'll come to our program and be a big addition right away."
In his amateur career, Sepulveda was at one time ranked as the #1 junior tennis player in his home country of Mexico and achieved a world ranking as high as #126. Additionally, he won three International Tennis Federation (ITF) singles events at the G3 Mexico City, G4 Monterrey and G4 Tampico and won four ITF doubles events at the G3 Mexico City, G4 San Agustin, G4 Monterrey and G4 Tampico.
