WICHITA, Kan. - Juniors
Addison Barnard and
Lauren Lucas earned Academic All-District honors Tuesday afternoon by College Sports Communicators.
This is the second straight Academic All-District honor for Barnard after being named an Academic All-American in 2022. The Beatrice, Neb., native is a health science major and has a cumulative GPA of 3.79.
Barnard earned American Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference honors for the third straight season. She is hitting .373 with 8 doubles, 4 triples, 14 home runs and 35 RBI. Earlier this season she became the Wichita State and American Athletic Conference all-time home run leader and currently stands at 69 career homers.
Lucas is a first time Academic All-District selection. She has a 3.97 GPA and majors in sport management. The Little Elm, Texas, native picked up First Team All-Conference honors for the second consecutive season behind 15 doubles, 7 triples, 4 home runs, 59 RBI and a .398 batting average. She ranks Top 10 nationally in triples and RBI.
The 2023 Academic All‐District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student‐ athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All‐America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All‐District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All‐America® ballot. First‐, second and third‐team Academic All‐ America® honorees will be announced June 6. The CSC Academic All‐District® teams include the student‐athletes listed on the following pages.
