TOPEKA, Kan. – The Wichita State men's and women's track and field teams swept the team competitions, collecting five meet records Thursday at the Ichabod Mid-Week Challenge at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility.

The men's team won with 126 points while the women won with 142.

Weston Lewis set the tone in the high jump, setting a meet record with his personal-best clearance of 2.13m/6"11/75" in a jump off with
Brady Palen after they both cleared 2.09m/6'10.25" and Palen passed to 2.15m and missed and both missed at 2.15m in the first attempt of the jump off. Lewis's mark moves him to fifth all-time in Shocker history right behind Palen.

Destiny Masters,
Marissa Jensen and
Mattelyn Swartz swept the women's high jump for the second time this season with Masters clearing 1.74m/5'8.5" and Jensen and Swartz both clearing 1.71m/'5'7.25", a personal best for Swartz.

Joseph Holthusen and Masters claimed back-to-back meet records in the 60-meter hurdles to open the running events. Holthusen ran 7.96 to win the event with
Adria Navajon (8.04, PB, No. 10 WSU all-time), and
Jaleel Montgomery (8.12) finishing in second and third, respectively, to complete the Shocker sweet. Masters' time of 8.55 broke her own meet record, while
Zarrey Sams finished in third with a time of 8.81.

Sams swept the horizontal jumps for the Shockers, winning long jump with a personal-best leap of 5.92m/19'5.25" and triple jump with a jump of 11.54m/37'10.5". Masters finished in second in the long jump (5.81m/19'00.75".

Montgomery and
Faith Turner followed up with a 60-meter sweep on the track, with Turner breaking her own meet record with a personal-best time of 7.43 which gave her the No. 2 spot in the Shocker record book outright.
Savannah Simmons finished third in 7.70 and Holthusen placed second in 6.95 (PB).

In the 800 meters,
Toby Penner set the final meet record of the day with a personal-best time of 1:54.96

Sydney Johnson won a race in her second-straight meet, moving up to fifth all-time in school history in the 200 meters with her time of 24.39. She also joined Turner,
Sadie Millard and
Farrah Miller on the winning 4x400-meter relay team.

Anna Zimmer picked up the last field event win for the Shockers with a shot put victory.

In the 400 meters,
JD Prinsloo (48.60) ran a personal best time to place fourth, and
Farrah Miller (56.89) finished second.
Bryan Haney also placed second, running a personal-best 21.83 in the 200 meters.
