Updated Gameday Elements for Charles Koch Arena in 2023-24

10/26/2023 3:00:00 PM

WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State Athletics and Charles Koch Arena will continue featuring updated fan amenities for the 2023-24 season.

As part of the 'Your House on the Prairie' marketing campaign, these enhancements and additions were collaboratively designed as a result of direct feedback from our fan base paired with innovative fan experience practices throughout the sports entertainment industry. The following summary represents a few of the numerous gameday improvements fans can expect in Charles Koch Arena.

All-In-1 Mobile Ticketing
ALL-IN-1 is a smart ticket that will simplify your digital wallet by consolidating your entire sports season ticket into a single pass. Season ticket purchasers will now only have to download one mobile ticket per seat that will automatically update to the event in their plan. That means season ticket holders can download their mobile ticket one time for the entire season and never worry about cellular connectivity at the gate again.

ALL-IN-1 tickets are available to download to your mobile wallet at GoShockers.com/myaccount as any other mobile ticket would be. You can determine if a ticket is an ALL-IN-1 pass by the logo in the upper right hand corner of the pass.

You can learn more about the ALL-IN-1 pass here, or contact the Wichita State Ticket Office at 316-978-FANS for any questions you may have about your account or to inquire about season tickets.

Hand Rails
Starting this season, navigating the upper rows of Charles Koch Arena will be easier and safer for fans of all ages with the installation of around 400 handrails. The handrails have been added to aisles above the entryways in the upper bowl and in the lower bowl behind the baselines.

The project is a collaboration between athletics, the College of Engineering's Innovation Hub and the office of Technology Transfer and Commercialization.

The handrails, 36 inches tall, made of carbon steel and painted black, are designed and manufactured by Wichita State staff and students in the Project Innovation Hub in the College of Engineering. Work on the handrails takes place in the John Bardo Center on the Innovation Campus. Because of the width of the aisles – approximately four feet – adding handrails required a building code variance from the state of Kansas.

Kids Zone
Coming Nov. 12, the Aetna Multi-Purpose Center will host a new Kids Zone! Basketballs, facility basketball goals and yard games will be available from doors open until tipoff.

Metal Detectors
Wichita State is now using CEIA Open Gate metal detectors. Conceal-carry for those events would be prohibited. WSU-ICAA reserves the right to use metal detectors at any event.

Open gate detectors are designed for people to walk through them with everything in their pockets and their clear bags or clutch (not exceeding 5.5" x 7.5") for a safe, easy and more efficient entry into Charles Koch Arena.

Medical Devices: Persons with implanted medical devices are safe to walk through open gate detectors. However, the choice will be up to the individual if they are uncomfortable with this process. If fans choose not to walk through, they may proceed to a secondary screening location, be manually screened/wanded and have clear bags checked.

DO NOT REMOVE: Keys, Phone, Jewelry, Wallets, Bags, etc.
DO REMOVE: Hats

Shuttles/Drop Off Policy
Fans have several options for shuttle transportation to basketball games. Wichita Transit bus route 202A from the Metropolitan Complex will deviate from its regular route to accommodate men's basketball game traffic.
  • Route 202A will run every 20 minutes and will start 2.5 hours prior to the game time.
  • Route 202A will add stops at the crosswalks for those headed to the arena.
  • In addition to usual service, routes will run during Saturday and Sunday game days.
  • Pick up for games will include Starbucks for those attending the Braeburn Square pregame activities.
Click here for a map of this route. Click here for more information on Wichita State transit services.

Fans can also download the MyStop App. The Wichita Transit MyStop app on your smart phone or computer allows fans to track buses so you'll always know when the next bus will arrive. Get the app in the Apple App Store, on Google Play or for desktop.

Those fans with accessibility or health issues, short term or long term, may be dropped off in front of Charles Koch Arena outside the South Entrance. All other drop offs, including ridesharing (Uber, Lyft, etc.), taxis and hotel shuttles, are on Alumni Drive just south of Charles Koch Arena. Click here for a map for the ride share location drop off.

Texting Service
The Shockers will engage with fans through a continued texting service. The Game Day Assistance program enables fans to start a conversation with WSU Athletics staff. Fans can text 316-800-0015 for all game day needs. Fans with questions or feedback about basketball gameday can also contact WSU Athletics directly by emailing comments@goshockers.com.
