8/25/2022 3:24:00 PM

WICHITA – The 2022 Wichita State cross country team is just over a week away from its season opener.

The fall schedule includes four regular-season meets leading up to the American Athletic Conference Championships on Oct. 28 in Tulsa, Okla.

The Shockers open the season at home for the fourth-straight year, hosting the JK Gold Classic at the 4 Mile Creek Resort in Augusta, Kan. on Sept. 3. Two weeks later, the team returns to Lincoln, Neb. for the Greeno/Dirksen Invitational on Sept. 17, followed by the Roy Griak Invitational the following week in Minneapolis, Minn. The Shockers take two weekends off from competition before racing in Peoria, Ill. at the Bradley Pink Classic on Oct. 14. Two weeks later, the team heads to Tulsa for the conference meet. Following the championships, the Shockers race at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Columbia, Mo., where they aim to qualify for the NCAA Championships in Stillwater, Okla. on Nov. 19.

The men's team has the opportunity to repeat as team champions at both the Greeno/Dirksen Invite and the Bradley Pink Classic after winning by 50 points and 21 points, respectively. Three of the four regular-season meets are at courses the Shockers ran last season, and the NCAA Midwest Regional will take place at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course, which the Shockers raced at last year for the Gans Creek Invitational.
