WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State infielder
Brock Rodden was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the conference announced Monday. It is the second such honor for Rodden this season, adding to his selection on March 21.
Rodden continued his hot hitting over the course of four games this week against Oklahoma State and Memphis. The switch-hitter went a combined 9-for-18 (.500) in those contests, homering twice, scoring six runs and driving in five. From the final game of the UCF series last Sunday through the opener against Memphis, Rodden homered in three consecutive games. He has raised his season batting average 34 points over the last five games to its team-leading .312 mark.
Rodden leads the club with 15 multi-hit games, and is currently riding both an eight-game hitting streak and a 13-game on-base streak. He capped off his strong week on Sunday at Memphis, helping the Shockers to a 10-6 win with three hits and three RBI, all coming with two outs. In addition to his hitting prowess, Rodden also drew a pair of walks on Saturday, his seventh game with multiple walks this season.
For the year, Rodden is slashing .312/.403/.578 for a .981 OPS. He has homered 11 times and driven in 30 runs.Â
Rodden and the Shockers return to action on Tuesday night, traveling to Kansas State for a midweek matchup with the Wildcats. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
