Stybr Named Head Dance Coach

4/6/2022 11:38:00 AM

WICHITA – Kate Stybr will be taking over as the Wichita State head dance coach for the 2022-23 season.

"It is such an honor to be given the opportunity to mentor and lead such talented student athletes at the collegiate level," Stybr said. "My goal is to continue to build on the tradition of excellence for this team while representing Wichita State and ultimately return to competing at the national level."

Stybr served as the assistant dance coach for the Shockers from 2018 to present, organizing practices and game day performances and assisting with choreography.

She began her dance career with the Wichita School of Performing Arts where she was trained in a wide variety of dance styles and techniques. She then was a member of the Andover High School dance team prior to her four years as a member of the Wichita State dance team, where she served as a team captain for two years.

Stybr graduated from Wichita State with a bachelor's degree in communication sciences and disorders and stayed at WSU to earn her master's degree in speech-language pathology.

Outside of dance, Stybr works as a licensed speech-language pathologist, providing speech services to school-aged children and individuals with communication disorders.
