LAST TIME OUT
Wichita State extended its win streak to five in a row with a 61-54 win over Denver on Wednesday night in Charles Koch Arena. Wichita State outrebounded the Pioneers by 14 and converted a season-high six three-pointers. Wichita State's 21 turnovers tied for the second most of the season, marking the fourth time in seven games with 20 or more. DJ McCarty was a perfect 8-for-8 from the field, finishing with a team-high 19 points. She also dished out five assists and swiped two steals. Nhug Bosch Duran recorded her second straight game in double figures with 10 points. Jane Asinde was held scoreless, but grabbed 13 rebounds. She has double digit rebounds in three straight games. Trajata Colbert just missed a double-double with 8 points and 11 rebounds.

SCOUTING THE PRIVATEERS
New Orleans enters Saturday's matchup having lost three straight, including a 90-37 setback at Tulane on Wednesday. The Privateers are 1-4 this season and average just 55.6 points on 37.1 percent shooting. New Orleans relies on forcing turnovers where they average 10.8 steals per game. The only problem is they give it away even more. Through five games the Privateers have committed 119 turnovers for an average of 23.8 per contest. DeArica Pryor is the only Privateer averaging double figures at 15.3 points per game to go with 4.8 rebounds and 12 steals.

THE SERIES VS. NEW ORLEANS
Wichita State and New Orleans have met only one time prior to Saturday's matchup - a contest that happened all the way back in 1993 on a neutral court. Wichita State is hosting New Orleans for the first time.

TEXAS-SIZED COMEBACK
Wichita State completed the largest comeback of the Keitha Adams era on Nov. 19 vs. North Texas. The Shockers trailed by 17 (41-24) at halftime, but went on to outscore the Mean Green in the second half, 33-12. Wichita State's 17-point deficit bested the previous high of 16 vs. Tulsa on Jan. 15, 2020.

JANE GOT GAME
Wichita State senior Jane Asinde has been unstoppable for the Shockers. The Uganda native has double-doubles in three of the five games she's played in, including back-to-back 20-point double-doubles at the LMU Thanksgiving Classic. Asinde opened the LMU Thanksgiving Classic with a career-high 19 rebounds to go with 20 points against Montana and followed that with a career-high 22 points and 15 rebounds vs. Loyola Marymount. She has double digit rebounds in four of the five games.

ASINDE NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior Jane Asinde was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on Nov. 28. Asinde averaged 21.0 points, 17.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and shot nearly 60 percent from the field in two games of the LMU Thanksgiving Classic. Asinde had back-to-back games of 20 points, 19 rebounds and 22 points, 15 rebounds vs. Montana and Loyola Marymount. She became the first Shocker to earn Player of the Week honors since Rangie Bessard on Jan. 15, 2018.

GO AHEAD CALL IT A COMEBACK
Wichita State has made a habit out of falling behind recently. The Shockers have trailed by double digits in each of their last three games and wound up winning them all: 17, North Texas (Nov. 19); 11, Montana (Nov. 25); 13, LMU (Nov. 26). In those three games Wichita State has outscored its opponents 125-74 in the second half.

COLBERT CASHING IN
Trajata Colbert has improved dramatically the last two years at the free throw line. The Georgia native began her career shooting 42.1 percent as a freshman, 61.1 percent as a sophomore and 50.9 percent as a COVID sophomore. In 2021-22 she shot a career-high 76.0 percent and so far through six games in 2022-23, she is 19-for-21 (90.5 percent).

EXTRA TIME NEEDED
Wichita State needed overtime in two of its first five games of the season. The Shockers fell in overtime at Omaha on Nov. 12, but collected an overtime win vs. Montana on Nov. 25. Wichita State is 4-4 in overtime games under Keitha Adams. Wichita State is 21-24 all-time in overtime games.

HOT START
Wichita State is 6-1 for the second straight season and riding a five-game win streak. The five-game win streak is the longest since 2018 when Wichita State also won five in a row. A win Saturday vs. New Orleans would make them 7-1 for just the second time in school history, joining the 2021-22 team. Last year's team opened 7-1 before suffering its second loss of the season.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
Through seven games Wichita State ranks in the top 40 nationally in the following categories: No. 24 in defensive rebounds per game (30.9), No. 28 in rebound margin (10.9), No. 33 in rebounds per game (43.7) and No. 37 in field goal percentage defense (34.6). Jane Asinde ranks 26th nationally in double-doubles (3) and 55th in rebounds (64). Trajata Colbert ranks 43rd in free throw percentage (90.5%).

WANTED FOR THEFT
Junior guard DJ McCarty has been a pest on defense for opposing offenses through seven games. McCarty has recorded at least one steal in all seven games, and has multiple in five of the seven games. Her 17 steals are far and away the most on the team and she ranks third in the American Athletic Conference and 70th nationally. Her 2.43 steals per game also rank third in the American and 97th nationally.

A SHOCKER LOSS WOULD...
... make them 6-2 this the season

... drop them to 3-1 at home this season
... make them 1-1 all-time vs. New Orleans
... bring Keitha Adams' record to 68-80 at Wichita State
