WICHITA, Kan. - Fresh off a huge weekend in Los Angeles, forward
Jane Asinde has been named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.
Asinde averaged 21.0 points, 17.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 1.0 steal, while shooting nearly 60 percent from the field in Wichita State's two wins last week over Montana and Loyola Marymount.
The Uganda native opened the LMU Thanksgiving Classic with a 20-point, 19-rebound effort in an overtime win vs. Montana. Her 19 rebounds were a career high. The very next night Asinde dropped a career-high 22 points, 15 rebounds and four steals in a victory over Loyola Marymount. She has three double-doubles in the four games she's played.
This is the first American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor for a Shocker since Rangie Bessard on Jan. 15, 2018.
