Shockers Hit the Road for Three Matches

The Wichita State women's tennis team looks to build on a 2-0 start with three road matches in three days.
 
The Shockers travel to Drake (Saturday, 11 a.m. CT), Omaha (Sunday, 9:30 a.m.) and South Dakota (Monday, 10 a.m.) this weekend.
 
South Dakota will offer streaming of Monday's matches. Fans can track live scoring at both Drake at South Dakota.

  • The Bulldogs are out to a 1-2 start. They swept Marquette to open the year but dropped road matches at Iowa and Minnesota, both by scores of 6-1.
  • With the exception of Kansas State (56 matches), WSU has faced Drake more times than any other rival. Saturday marks the 53rd meeting in the series.
  • The Shockers lead their former Missouri Valley Conference foe 30-22 and have won all 12 encounters under head coach Colin Foster and 17-straight overall going back to the 2005-06 season. They're 11-10 all-time against the Bulldogs in Des Moines.

  • The Shockers are 4-0 against Omaha. The teams last met in 2012.
  • Sunday's match will be a homecoming of sorts for WSU's Bianca Rademacher, a native of nearby Lincoln, Neb.
  • Omaha is out to a 2-0 start with a Fall win over Midland and a 4-3 road victory at Milwaukee. The Mavericks will host Northern Iowa on Saturday afternoon before taking on WSU the following day.
  • Omaha returns most its lineup from last season when it finished 9-14 (1-5 Summit League). The Mavericks reached the Summit League tournament title match as recently as 2019.

  • This is the first-ever meeting between the programs.
  • The Coyotes transitioned to NCAA Division I and the Summit League in 2011-12 and claimed runner-up finishes in both 2017 and 2018.
  • South Dakota is 1-2 with road losses at Drake (0-4) and Kansas State (1-6) and a neutral court win over Missouri State (6-1). The Coyotes are at Minnesota on Saturday before returning home to face the Shockers.
