Shockers Sign Texas Tech Transfer Zoe Jones

WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State softball head coach Kristi Bredbenner announced the signing of Zoe Jones, a transfer from Texas Tech with two years of eligibility remaining.

"Zoe is a spark plug," Bredbenner said. "Her energy, attitude and love of the game will fit in perfectly with Shocker Softball. She has a strong bat and will help us defensively in the infield."

Jones played three seasons in Lubbock, racking up NFCA All-Region Third Team and All-Big 12 Freshman Team honors in 2019. She appeared in 122 career games, making 121 starts for the Red Raiders. She's a career .283 hitter with 14 home runs, 11 doubles and 59 RBI. She hit a career-high seven home runs in a COVID-19 shortened 2020 season, while driving in 26 runs.

A native of Mustang, Okla., Jones will provide experience on the infield for the Shockers in 2022.

JUNIOR (2021)
Appeared in 39 games, making 38 starts... Finished with two home runs and eight RBI... Led the team with 217 putouts and an outstanding fielding percentage of .996... Five multi-hit games... Season-long hit streak of eight straight games... Went 2-for-4 with a home run vs. Tarleton State (3/21)... Hit a home run, drove in two runs and scored two runs in a 2-for-2 day vs. Southeast Missouri (2/28)... Opened the season with a pair of hits in four at bats, while scoring two runs vs. Colorado State (2/20).

SOPHOMORE (2020)
Started all 26 games, making 11 starts at first base and 15 starts at second base … led the team with seven multi-RBI games … led the Red Raiders with a .639 slugging percentage, seven home runs, 26 RBI, 46 total bases and three sacrifice flies … tied for second on the team with four doubles and three hit by pitches … ranked third on the team with 21 hits through 72 at-bats … started the season with one double and one run scored against Houston Baptist (2/7) … powered one hit and one RBI against Louisiana Tech (2/8 and 2/22), Kent State (2/18), No. 4 LSU, and Delaware State (3/6) … finished the season with five multi-hit games … went two-for-four with one home run and four RBI in Tech's 5-1 win over Jackson State (2/7) … blasted a key home run in a two-hit effort in Tech's 5-1 win over No. 18 South Carolina on Feb. 13 … collected a pair of hits and one RBI in Tech's 5-2 victory over No. 15 Georgia (2/15) … powered a three-run home run and drew one walk against No. 1 Washington on Feb. 16 … tallied two RBI thanks to one home run against Syracuse (2/21) … collected one hit and one stolen base against BYU (2/28) … went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Tech's 6-2 win over Grand Canyon (2/29) … helped Tech to a 17-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson (3/6) thanks to a three-run home run and two runs scored … tallied a pair of home runs and collected three RBI in Tech's second meeting against Delaware State (3/8) … drove in two runs on an RBI double in the Red Raiders' 5-0 shutout at Hawaii … on March 13, the remainder of the 2020 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
 
FRESHMAN ( 2019)
Named to the NFCA Central All-Regional Third Team and All-Big 12 Freshman Team … started all 58 games at second base in her first season with the Red Raiders … led the team with 27 walks, seven HBP and a .461 on-base percentage while ranking fourth on the squad with a .333 average at the plate … finished the regular season ranked eighth in the league with a .459 on-base percentage … went 2-for-3 with two hits and two RBI in her collegiate debut against Omaha on Feb. 8 … went 2-for-2 with one run and an RBI against Wisconsin (Feb. 9) … Had a day at the plate going 2-for-3 against Furman on Feb. 16 … blasted the first home run of her career in a 2-for-3 outing that helped Tech win its first game in program history against No. 21 Auburn (Feb. 16) … went 3-for-4 against North Texas (Mar. 2) … Collected two RBI and a home run against UT Arlington (Mar. 2) … went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI and a run against Northern Colorado (Mar. 8) … tallied two hits, one run and an RBI against Gardner Webb before going 3-for-3 with an RBI against Northern Colorado (Mar. 10) … posted a 2-for-3 outing with a home run, one run and four RBI against Iowa State (Mar. 31) … collected five hits, a home run, one run and two RBI in Tech's series Big 12 series at Oklahoma State (Apr. 26-28) … drove in one run on two hits in Tech's narrow loss to No. 10 LSU (May 18)in game two of the 2019 Baton Rouge Regional … helped Tech to a key victory over the hosting LSU Tigers with a two-run homer to force a game seven in Tech's first Regional appearance since 2012 …  finished the season with 13 multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games.

HIGH SCHOOL
Four-year letterwinner at Mustang High School … two-time Oklahoma Class 6A State Champion … named to the Top 5 Oklahoma Players to Watch list … became Mustang High School's all-time leader in career home runs and RBIs – breaking the record set by former Red Raider Kierra Miles … won the Michele Smith award as a senior … led the Mustangs to a 6A Regional Championship as a senior … earned First Team All-Conference, All-Region and All-District honors all four years of her career … picked up COAC, All-City and Oklahoma All-Area first-team laurels following her senior season.
 
PERSONAL
Daughter of Kevin and Jennifer Jones … has one sister, Izzie … mother played college softball at East Carolina University ... majoring in marketing and management.
