The Shockers are the second-highest ranked team in The American in RPI, trailing only ECU, which checks in at sixth. Tulane is the only other American Athletic Conference team in the top-100, clocking in at 78th.

RECORD BREAKER: Corrigan Bartlett set a new Wichita State single-game record with three sacrifice flies in the Shockers' suspended game at Tulane April 17-18. The previous record was two, last set by

GETTING IT DONE ON AND OFF THE FIELD: Preston Snavely has been named a candidate for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. Snavely is 3-2 and has a 3.83 ERA in eight appearances and starts on the mound this season. He has only allowed 18 earned runs on 38 hits with 33 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings of work going into the series at Cincinnati. Snavely graduated with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in May 2020, with a 3.88 GPA. He currently has a perfect 4.0 GPA in his pursuit of a graduate degree in sport management. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists in May, and those 10 names will be placed on the final ballot. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2021 College World Series® in June.
