Chad Gibney is in his fifth season as the women's basketball coach at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, Neb. The Cougars went 28-5 in his first season and haven't slowed a bit under Gibney's direction, compiling records of 29-5, 29-4 and 28-2. Western Nebraska is 4-1 this season and ranked No. 14 nationally.

Gibney, from Lincoln, Neb., came to Wichita State with the goal of getting into college coaching. He wanted to work in a successful program where he could learn. His father's connection with former Shocker assistant coach Chris Jans got him in the door. He spent six seasons taking notes, helping at practice, organizing gear and more under former coach Gregg Marshall and assistants such as Jans, Steve Forbes, Greg Heiar and current interim coach Isaac Brown.

Gibney worked as a manager and graduate manager for six seasons (2010-16) at Wichita State.

In the podcast, he talks about his busy entrance into coaching. In 2017, he worked as the men's assistant coach and women's head coach at Western Nebraska. He discusses his favorite Shocker memories, including the 2014 comeback at Missouri State and the 35-1 season. Also up for discussion are his memories of pickup basketball with the managers, drills and plays he uses from his Shocker days and his favorite Missouri Valley Conference stops.
