IRVING, Texas – Wichita State volleyball sophomore outside/opposite hitter
Nicole Anderson was named the American Athletic Conference's Offensive Player of the Week for her performance during the week of Jan. 18-24, it was announced Monday, Jan. 25, by the conference office.
Anderson, who hails from Richardson, Texas, earns her first-career weekly honor after helping the Shockers to a perfect 3-0 record in the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational Jan. 22-24 in Springfield, Mo.
In WSU's three victories over South Dakota, Oral Roberts and Missouri State, she averaged a team-best 3.36 kills and 3.36 digs per set and hit .284, compiling 37 kills on 102 attempts with eight errors in 11 sets of action.
Anderson tallied double-doubles in matches against South Dakota (13 kills, 11 digs) and Missouri State (10 kills, career-best 19 digs), while hitting a career-high .480 with 14 kills on 25 attempts and just two miscues in Wichita State's contest vs. Oral Roberts.
She was named the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational MVP, in addition to being named to the event's all-tournament team.
Wichita State is slated to host North Texas (0-0) Thursday, Jan. 28, and Friday, Jan. 29, at Charles Koch Arena.
