3/1/2020 12:00:00 PM

WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State concludes regular season play Monday night when the Shockers travel to Orlando to face the UCF Knights.

ON THE AIR
Monday's game can be heard on the radio at KFH 97.5 FM/1240 AM with the voice of Shocker Women's Basketball Steve Strain calling the action. Strain is in his sixth season broadcasting games for the women's program. The game will also be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.

LAST TIME OUT
Wichita State dropped its lone matchup against Cincinnati in a 75-54 loss Saturday in Charles Koch Arena. With the loss, Wichita State is now 0-4 all-time vs. the Bearcats. The Shockers allowed Cincinnati to shoot 52.5 percent from the field, just the fourth opponent to eclipse the 50 percent mark this season. Cincinnati finished just 1-of-6 from beyond the arc. The one made three-pointer was a season low for an opponent, while the six attempts tied a season low. Ashley Reid scored a team-high 10 points. Reid, Maya Brewer and Raven Prince played their final home game in the Black & Yellow.

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
UCF enters the matchup at 18-9 overall and tied for second place at 10-5 in league play. This will be the lone regular season meeting between the two programs. UCF is led by senior guard Kay Kay Wright who averages a team-best 17.0 points and 4.0 assists per game to go with 57 steals. Wright tops the conference in free throw percentage (84.9 percent), while her scoring and steals rank fourth. Brittney Smith ranks second in scoring at 10.7 a game. Masseny Kaba leads the Knights in rebounding at 6.7. As a team, UCF ranks in the top 50 nationally in turnovers forced (30th), scoring defense (43rd) and turnover margin (44th). Since joining the American Athletic Conference, Wichita State is 0-2 vs. UCF.

THE SERIES VS. UCF
Wichita State and UCF have met only twice prior to Monday. The Shockers have never beaten the Knights and are 0-1 in the program's only trip to Orlando back in Jan. 2018. Wichita State and UCF have met just one time in each of the last two seasons due to the unbalanced American Athletic Conference schedule. This will be the second trip to Addition Financial Arena, formerly CFE Arena.

LAST MEETING
Wichita State dropped the only meeting during the 2018-19 campaign, a 57-49 win for the Knights in Wichita. Wichita State and UCF went into halftime tied at 29, before the Knights pulled away late in the fourth quarter when UCF held Wichita State to just nine points. Wichita State missed 10 of its 14 attempts from beyond the arc and shot 37 percent overall, while UCF converted 46 percent of its tries. Despite a 2-for-14 mark from three-point range and going 9-for-17 at the free throw line, UCF was able to win the turnover and rebound battle. Sabrina Lozada-Cabbage registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while adding four steals as well. Raven Prince also added 10 points.

ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
Located in Orlando, Fla., the University of Central Florida has an enrollment of more than 67,000 as a member of the American Athletic Conference. UCF returns five letterwinners and only two starters off last year's squad that finished 26-7 and 13-3 in The American. The Knights were picked to finish tied for third by the league's coaches in the American Athletic Conference Preseason Poll. UCF returns the preseason Co-Player of the Year in guard Kay Kay Wright. Head Coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson is in her fourth season leading the Knights, and has a career record of 327-147 after spending six seasons at Albany and five at her alma mater Missouri State. In her three seasons at the helm, UCF has posted the program's first three-consecutive 20-win seasons in the Division I era. She has led the Knights to their best finish in the American Athletic Conference in all three seasons, including their first-ever appearance in The American Championship title game.

... drop them to 0-3 all-time against UCF
... lower Adams' career coaching record to 452-295
... make Adams 325-258 at the Division I level
... make Wichita State 611-697 all-time
