100
Wichita State scored 100 points in its victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday, Dec. 16, marking the first time since 1999 the Shockers have reached the century mark. It is only the sixth time in program history that a Wichita State team has put 100 points on the scoreboard. They are 6-0 all-time when scoring 100-plus.

LAST TIME OUT
Wichita State fell to 0-7 all-time vs. Houston following an overtime loss 64-56 last Saturday. Wichita State committed a Keitha Adams era and season-high 38 turnovers. The Shockers led by as many as 10 in the second half before Houston outscored Wichita State 11-3 in the overtime session. Wichita State dominated the glass, setting season highs in rebounds (53), offensive rebounds (21) and rebound margin (+25), but finished only 1-of-8 from beyond the arc. Maya Brewer scored a team-high 13 points and Mariah McCully finished in double figures (10 pts) for the 14th straight game. Seraphine Bastin just missed a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
SMU enters the matchup at 8-10 overall and 2-4 in league play. The Mustangs defeated ECU and Tulsa, while their four losses came against UConn, Temple, Tulane and Memphis. Johnasia Cash averages a near double-double with 10.6 points and 9.3 rebounds. Cash has seven double-doubles, which ranks third in the league and her 9.3 boards also rank third. Kayla White sits right behind Cash in the scoring category at 10.2 per game. Reagan Bradley leads SMU in assists (78) and steals (34) to go with 9.8 points. Bradley's assist numbers put her third in The American. SMU pulls down 16.5 offensive rebounds a game, which tops The American and places them seventh nationally. The Mustangs average 43.0 rebounds per game, good for second in the conference and 16th in the country.

THE SERIES VS. SMU
Wichita State and SMU have met eight times prior to Wednesday's matchup, with the Shockers owning a 5-3 record in the series. The two programs first met on Dec. 2, 1988 in Dallas - an 81-59 win for SMU. Wichita State is 2-2 vs. the Mustangs in Dallas. Wichita State had won two straight in Dallas before SMU defeated Wichita State, 78-50, last January.

LAST MEETING
The two split the season series a season ago with the home team winning each matchup. Wichita State avenged a loss in the first meeting with a 53-42 win in Charles Koch Arena on Feb. 17, 2019. Wichita State held the Mustangs to 5-of-25 from beyond the arc and a field goal percentage of 22.2 percent for the game. The Shockers also forced 29 SMU turnovers - 16 of which were steals. Wichita State was also outrebounded by 20 - a season worst. Sabrina Lozada-Cabbage scored a team-high 12 points, while Carla Bremaud and Seraphine Bastin added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Bastin flirted with a triple-double, adding nine assists and seven rebounds to go with her 10 points. Five Shockers recorded multiple steals, including five for Cesaria Ambrosio and four for Bremaud.

ABOUT THE MUSTANGS
Located in Dallas, Texas, Southern Methodist University has an enrollment of 11,739 as a member of the American Athletic Conference. SMU returns seven letterwinners and three starters off last year's squad that finished 11-19 and 5-11 in The American. The Mustangs were picked to finish 12th by the league's coaches in the American Athletic Conference Preseason Poll. Head Coach Travis Mays is in his fourth season at SMU with a career record of 46-59. Mays arrived on the Hilltop after 14 years as an assistant coach, where he served under three Hall of Fame coaches, and 11 years playing professionally. In his first season, Mays led the Mustangs to the third round of the WNIT with a pair of victories in the tournament, winning multiple postseason games for the second time in program history and the first since 1993. He guided the team to a 19-13 record overall, including a 13-3 mark in Moody Coliseum, the second-most home wins in program history.

SHOCKERS MAKE AMERICAN RECORD BOOK
In Wichita State's 100-50 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday, Dec. 16, the Shockers tied the conference single-game record with 36 made free throws, going a collective 36-of-45 (80 percent) from the charity stripe. That performance draws even with USF's 36 foul shots against UCF on Jan. 5, 2016. WSU finished one make shy of the top mark in school history (37, in 2005).

A SHOCKER WIN WOULD...
... make them 12-9 on the season
... make them 4-4 in conference play
... run their record to 6-3 all-time vs. SMU
... give them six wins in the last seven meetings
... run Adams' career coaching record to 449-290
... make Adams 322-253 at the Division I level
... make Wichita State 608-692 all-time

A SHOCKER LOSS WOULD...
... drop them to 11-10 to begin the season
... make them 3-5 in conference play
... give them their third straight loss
... drop them to 5-4 all-time vs. SMU
... lower Adams' career coaching record to 448-291
... make Adams 321-254 at the Division I level
... make Wichita State 607-693 all-time

BEST DECADE YET
Wichita State's win over Grambling State on Dec. 30 was the final contest of 2019 and decade for the Shocker basketball program. It signaled the end of the most successful 10-year run in program history, as Wichita State compiled 182 wins over the decade, which included three MVC Regular Season and Tournament Championships, three NCAA Appearances, 12 all-conference selections and one All-American and WNBA Draft Pick in future Shocker Hall of Famer Alex Harden.

OH MY MARIAH
Junior Mariah McCully has been on a scoring tear recently for the Shockers. Over her last 14 games, McCully is averaging 14.6 points, including two 20-point outings. Her 15 games of 10 or more points this season rank first on the team and she is Wichita State's leading scorer on the year at 13.1 per game. The Shockers have three 20-point outings this season, two of which belong to McCully.

REBOUNDING IS THE KEY
When Wichita State wins the rebound battle, the outcome has been positive this season. The Shockers are 9-1 when winning the battle of the boards and 2-8 when they don't. In Wichita State's 11 wins this season, the Shockers are outrebounding their opponents by an average of 6.2 boards a game. In the nine losses, they average only 33.3 rebounds and are outrebounded by 6.8.

OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN(S)
The votes are in. Wichita State women's basketball will feature three team captains in 2019-20 - senior Ashley Reid and sophomores Seraphine Bastin and Trajata Colbert. Selected by their teammates, the trio will be looked upon to lead the Shocker basketball program for the remainder of the campaign.
