Shockers Wrap Up Season at Conference Championship

PALM HARBOR, Fla. - The Wichita State men's golf team wraps up its season at the American Athletic Conference season beginning on Sunday.

The Shockers are coming off a tied for 10th finish at the Bayou City Collegiate in Houston, falling to the Cougars by 12 strokes. Wichita State is 0-3 against conference competition, falling behind to UCF in the fall at The Jackrabbit and Cincinnati at the Furman Intercollegiate.

Senior Yannik Emmert will play in his final collegiate tournament as a Shocker, coming off a tied for 22nd in his last outing after coming up with a 220 54-hole score. Zac Owens looks to cap cap off his second-best performance of the season with a tied for second finish, shooting 4-under par to come up with a career low 54-hole score.

Dawson Lewis and Brock Polhill are making a return to the scorecard after finishing in a tie for 68th, with Grayson Wallace making his third appearance of the season. Wallace came up with a career low round score with two 75's at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, collecting his career low 54-hole score of 227 in the process.

Wichita State will have a completely new lineup at this year's conference championship, with the Shockers finishing 10th at the 2018 AAC championship after compiling a team score of 892. USF is looking for its fifth straight conference championship, dominating SMU by 20 strokes to claim the trophy last season.

USF has seven top five finishes this season, having won two of its last four tournaments. Houston is coming off a tied for second at the All-American Intercollegiate to start the spring season, with SMU winning claiming three tournament titles this season. UCF has two tournament titles this season, coming off a first place at the FAU Invitational.

Copperhead Course is a par 71, 7,125-yard course. Claudio Correa of USF and Linus Vaisanen of UCF hold the course record for lowest round score at the AAC Championship, shooting 4-under par each. In 2014, Bryson Dechambeau from SMU shot the lowest 54-hole score when the conference championship was held at Copperhead Course with a 206 (-7).
