MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Wichita State women's tennis team fell to No. 37 Kansas State, 7-0, Friday at the Mike Goss Tennis Stadium, snapping a six-match win streak.

DOUBLES
The Shockers dropped just their second doubles point of the season, falling in flights two and three. In flight three,
LingWei Kong and
Ting-Ya Hsu, who came into the match with a 6-1 record, fell to Ioana Gheorghita and Maria Linares, 6-3. The Shockers top duo,
Esther Thebault and
Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva, fell behind 3-2 to Margot Decker and Anna Turco before rallying to win 6-4.
Sandra Honigova and
Marta Bellucco raced out to a 4-1 lead in the second flight, before Karine-Marion Job and Ines Mesquita took the final five games to clinch the point for the Wildcats.

SINGLES
The Wildcats strung together wins in the top three flights to clinch the win over the Shockers. Kong took on Marion Job in the third flight, falling in straight sets (6-2, 6-2) to give the KSU an early 2-0. After falling quick in the first sets of flights one and two, Honigova and Thebault fought in the second flight, respectively. After falling 6-1 in the first, Thebault rallied in the second to force a tiebreaker. The junior fell in the tiebreaker to give KSU a 3-0 lead.

Honigova fell 6-1 in the first before rallying to take the second set, 6-4. The senior fell in the third (6-2) to clinch the match for the Wildcats.

The Shockers and Wildcats played one set to eight in flights four through six. Saidhujaeva fell to Turco 8-3 in the fourth slot, Hsu dropped an 8-3 decision to Ines Mesquita and Lazarova fell 8-4 to Maria Ponomareva.

The Shockers will return home on Sunday when they take on No. 8 Oklahoma State at the Wichita Country Club. The match is slated for 10 a.m.
