KANSAS CITY -  The Wichita State women's tennis team collected sweeps over UMKC and Drake Saturday at the Woodside Tennis Center and Overland Park Racquet Club in Kansas City.
 
The Shockers (11-8)  knocked off UMKC 4-0, and followed with a 7-0 sweep of Drake.

Doubles
The Shockers collected wins in all three flights against the Kangaroos. Esther Thebault and Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva got the action started with a quick 6-0 win over Thanushree Vale and Katie Fried, and LingWei Kong and Ting-Ya Hsu followed with a 6-2 win on court three over Riddhi Sharma and Grace Ball to clinch the the win. Fatima Bizhukova and Marta Bellucco finished doubles with a 6-2 win over Michela Xibilia and Yana Grechking (6-2).
 
SINGLES
Competing on four courts, the Shockers used wins on courts one through three to clinch the 4-0 win over UMKC. Saidhujaeva, competing in the second slot for the first time, put away Fries (6-4, 6-1) in the second slot, and Hsu followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Grechkina in the third slot. Bizhukova improved to 3-0 on the season after knocking off Xibilia in a three-setter, 6-0, 1-6, 6-3. Bellucco trailed 1-0 in the third after splitting sets and Alexandra Lazarova trailed 3-2 to Grace Ball before going unfinished. Kong and Vale were tied at one when play was suspended.

DOUBLES
The Shockers jumped ahead early after a win by forfeit on the third court. Honigova and Bellucco teamed back up in doubles, this time in the first slot where they took down Carmen Palumbo and Daria Walczak of UMKC, 6-4. Hsu and Kong earned their second win in as many matches in the third slot, defeating Liza Petushkova and Megan Webb, 6-4.
 
SINGLES
WSU raced out to a 3-0 lead after two forfeits by the Bulldogs on courts five and six. Playing a clinch-play format, the Shockers grabbed wins on courts one through four for the 7-0 win. Lazarova defeated Walczak on court three, 6-1, 6-2 to clinch the match for the Shockers. Kong followed on court four, knocking of Sophia Haleas (6-4, 6-2). In the top slot, Honigova returned to the lineup and won a 7-5, 6-2 decision over Petushkova. Thebault won a super tiebreaker in place of a third set on court two (10-3) after splitting sets with Palumbo.
