WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State distance runners
Winny Koskei,
Rebekah Topham and
Zack Penrod travel to the west coast Friday, March 29 to compete in the Stanford Invitational.

The Shocker trio will face some of the top distance runners in the country.
Zack Penrod will run the 1500m, while
Rebekah Topham will enter the women's 3000m steeplechase and
Winny Koskei will compete in the 10,000m.

All three runners are making their 2019 debut in their respective events.

Topham is first in action for the Shockers competing in the women's 3000m steeplechase invitational at 7:42 p.m. CT. Topham finished 13th in the USATF Outdoor Championships this past summer, she ran a school record time of 10:00.59.

Penrod enters a talented 1500m field, he will run in section three at 8:54 p.m. CT. Penrod is the reigning 2018 American Athletic Conference 1500m runner-up and has a personal best 1500m time of 3:45.41, the fifth fastest time in Shocker history.

Last in competition for the Shockers is Koskei, she will run in the 10,000m invitational at 11:07 p.m. CT. In 2018, she placed 21st in the NCAA West Preliminary 10,000m with the third fastest time in Shocker history of 33:30.31. Most recently she won the Herm Wilson Invitational 3000m with a school record time of 9:40.68.

In 2018 at the Stanford Invitational, Penrod placed eighth in section two of the 1500m with a time of 3:48.89. Koskei finished 21st in section two of the 10,000m with a time of 34:47.00 and Topham competed unattached placing 10th in the section two of the 5000m with a time of 16:34.63.
