Shockers Travel to Nevada for Jackrabbit Invitational

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - After climbing back to a seventh place finish in the Rio Verde Invitational, the Wichita State women's golf team continues its west coast journey in the spring season. The Shockers will compete in the 10th annual Jackrabbit Invitational on Monday.

Wichita State also looks to complete its first 54-hole tournament of the spring. The first round of the Rio Verde Invitational was canceled due to heavy snow in Arizona. 

Freshman Hana Mirnik is coming off her first top 10 finish of her career, claiming seventh after finishing the second round with two birdies and two bogeys. The Celje, Slovenia, native finished with a 1-under par in the final round, shooting a 71.

Senior Gavrilla Arya finished with eight bogeys in the second round to claim a tie for 39th, while Michelle Ledermann added four bogeys and a birdie in the second round to finish tied for 52nd.

Senior Laine Evans jumped 19 places in the second round of the Rio Verde Invitational after coming up with three birdies, finishing with a 76 in the final round to tie for 55th. Junior Annika Chickering is coming off her best performance since the Payne Stewart Memorial in September, shooting a 74 that moved her 28 places after the first round. She finished tied for 64th.

The field includes CSU Bakersfield, CSU Northridge, High Point, UMKC, Missouri State, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Northern Illinois, Oklahoma City (NAIA), Rocky Mountain (NAIA), Xavier and host institution South Dakota State. Wichita State is 9-1 against the tournament field this season, with its lone loss coming to Xavier in the last tournament. Xavier is coming off a team win at the Rio Verde Invitational.

UNLV won the event last season, with host school South Dakota State coming in third.

Boulder Creek Golf Club is a 6,343-yard, par-72 course. Tee off begins at 9:45 a.m. CT with a shotgun start. Live stats will be available on Golfstat.com.
