WICHITA, Kan. -Â Prior to Christmas break, Wichita State travels to Puerto Rico for the 2019 Puerto Rico Coqui Classic held Dec. 20-21. The Shockers will play two games in two days against Montana State and Virginia Tech.

Both games can be heard on the radio at KFH 97.5 FM/1240 AM (Friday vs. Montana State) and KNSS 98.7 FM/1330 AM (Saturday vs. Virginia Tech) with the voice of Shocker Women's Basketball Steve Strain calling the action. Strain is in his sixth season broadcasting games for the women's program.

Wichita State scored 100 points in its victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday, Dec. 16, marking the first time since 1999 the Shockers have reached the century mark. It is only the sixth time in program history that a Wichita State team has put 100 points on the scoreboard. They are 6-0 all-time when scoring 100-plus.
LAST TIME OUT
Wichita State topped the century mark in its win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff Monday for the first time since November 1999. It is only the sixth time in program history the Shockers have put 100 on the scoreboard. Wichita State just missed breaking the school record for free throws made in a single game with 36 - the record is 37. The 45 free throw attempts were five shy of the school mark.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS & HOKIES
Montana State is off to a 4-3 start in 2019-20 with wins over UC Davis, Carroll College, MSU Northern and Seattle. Montana State has faced Minnesota, who was receiving votes, and No. 17 Gonzaga. Oliana Squires leads a balanced scoring attack at 12.0 points per game. Fallyn Freije ranks second at 11.4 a game to go with a team-best 6.6 rebounds a contest. MSU's plus 9.9 rebound margin ranks 30th nationally. Virginia Tech enters the tournament at 8-1, led by Aisha Sheppard's 17.1 points per game. Dara Mabrey (16.2 ppg), Elizabeth Kitley (12.3 ppg) and Trinity Baptiste (11.2 ppg) round out the top bucket-getters. Taja Cole is one of the nation's best at dishing out assists. Her 59 assists rank 8th nationally and 6.6 per game are good for 9th.
SHOCKERS MAKE AMERICAN RECORD BOOKÂ
In Wichita State's 100-50 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Monday, Dec. 16, the Shockers tied the conference single-game record with 36 made free throws, going a collective 36-of-45 (80 percent) from the charity stripe. That performance draws even with USF's 36 foul shots against UCF on Jan. 5, 2016. WSU finished one make shy of the top mark in school history (37, in 2005).

BIG WEEK LANDS MCCULLY ON HONOR ROLL
Mariah McCully picked up her first career weekly honor after scoring a career-high 25 points vs. Eastern Michigan on Dec. 7. McCully, a Grand Rapids, Mich. native, averaged 19.0 points, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals on 43.8 percent shooting in Wichita State's two games during the week. She opened the week with a then-career high 13 points against No. 18 Missouri State, and finished in a big way. She poured in a career-best 25 points on 8-of-18 shooting, while adding a career-high three steals in the win over EMU.
MAKE IT RAIN
Wichita State poured in 12 three-pointers in only 22 attempts in its victory over Oklahoma on Saturday, Nov. 30. The 12 made three-pointers are the most in a single game since Dec. 30, 2006, when the Shockers made 12-of-24 against Evansville. The school record for made triples in a single game is 14, which was set in 1999. Wichita State has made 10 or more three-pointers only four times between 2006 and Nov. 30, 2019.

Wichita State's big win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Dec. 16 was a career day for several Shockers.
• Senior
Ashley Reid scored a game-high tying and career-high 17 points. It marked just the third time in her Shocker career scoring 10 or more points. Reid also set career bests in free throws made (8), attempted (9), assists (7), rebounds (4) and steals (3).

Maya Brewer registered a career-high 16 points, while going a career-best 7-of-9 from the free throw line.
• Junior
Mariah McCully topped the 10-point mark for the fourth straight game with a game-high tying 17 points to go with a career-high six rebounds. She was perfect from the free throw line, going 8-for-8 - both career bests.

Vendela Danielsson recorded her first career points as a Shocker, tallying all 10 after halftime on 3-of-7 shooting from long range.
• Redshirt sophomore
Asia Henderson just missed her first career double-double with eight points and a personal-best 12 rebounds. Henderson also blocked a career-high five shots.
• Redshirt freshman
Natalia Ryng checked in for the first time as a Shocker and finished with two points in 10 minutes.

ABOUT THE BOBCATS
Located in Bozeman, Mont., Montana State University has an enrollment of 16,766 as a member of the Big Sky Conference. Montana State returns seven letterwinners and four starters off last year's squad that finished 16-15 and 11-9 in the Big Sky. The Bobcats were picked to win the Big Sky in the preseason coaches and media poll. Fallyn Freije was named the Preseason Big Sky MVP and Oliana Squires landed on the preseason all-conference team. Head Coach Tricia Binford is in her 15th season leading the Bobcats with a career record of 232-199. She inherited a program in search of stability and someone to guide the Bobcats back to the upper echelons of the Big Sky Conference. Now, 15 years later, the former Boise State and WNBA standout is MSU's longest tenured coach as well as its winningest in history. Binford has led Montana State to 12 straight winning seasons, a stretch that is the best in school history. Three years ago, Binford had her most prolific season as a head coach on the Bozeman campus. She guided the Bobcats to a school-record 25-7 record and her 15 Big Sky Conference victories were also the most in school history.
ABOUT THE HOKIES
Located in Blacksburg, Va., Virginia Polytechnic and State University has an enrollment of 34,000+ as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Virginia Tech returns only four letterwinners and three starters off last year's squad that finished 22-12 and 6-10 in the ACC. The Hokies were picked to finish 10th in the preseason coaches and media ballot. Head coach Kenny Brooks is in his fourth season at the helm with a 73-41 record in Blacksburg and a career record of 410-163 in 18 seasons. Since Brooks' arrival in Blacksburg, the Hokies have enjoyed three consecutive 20-plus win seasons, all culminating with tournament runs in March. The Hokies made a WNIT Championship game appearance in 2018 and made it to the WNIT's Sweet Sixteen in 2017 and 2019. Brooks has ushered in a new era of uptempo basketball at Virginia Tech, as his Hokies have reset the program scoring record twice and surpassed the mark for 3-pointers made in every season. Brooks joined the Hokies after an impressive 14-seasons at his alma mater, James Madison. He compiled a record of 337-122 (.756) making him the winningest coach in JMU program history. He guided the Dukes to 11 consecutive postseason appearances that included six NCAA bids and five trips to the WNIT.
