The Series vs. SMU
Wichita State and SMU have met six times prior to Tuesday's matchup, with the Shockers leading 4-2. The first meeting took place in Dec. 1988 with the Mustangs taking that contest in Dallas, 81-59. WSU has won the last four matchups, including a season sweep in 2018. Wichita State is 2-0 vs. the Mustangs in Wichita after securing the win last season on Jan. 16, 66-43. That victory was win No. 3 in the team's season-high five-game win streak.

Last Meeting
Wichita State completed the season sweep of SMU with a 52-45 road win on Feb. 17, 2018. Despite shooting just 37.5 percent from the field, Wichita State was able to collect the win thanks to limiting SMU to just 27.9 percent shooting with 19 turnovers. The Mustangs were also just 4-of-26 from beyond the arc. Rangie Bessard scored a game-high 16 points and Keke Thompson added 12 points and six rebounds. Angiee Tompkins grabbed 10 boards to go with eight points and Sabrina Lozada-Cabbage chipped in nine points, seven rebounds and a pair of steals.

Scouting the Mustangs

SMU is 6-10 with wins against LA Monroe, Mississippi Valley, Robert Morris, Northern Arizona, North Texas and CSU Bakersfield. The Mustangs dropped their first three AAC games against Cincinnati, Houston and Tulane. Alicia Froling leads SMU in scoring (12.3), rebounding (10.8) and blocks (33). Froling ranks in the top 20 nationally in offensive rebounds per game (9th), double-doubles (14th), total rebounds (15th) and rebounds per game (20th). As a team, SMU ranks 22nd in offensive rebounds per game (16.0) and first in The American. The Mustangs also lead the league in blocks and free throws made and attempted.

Hot Hand Hampton
Freshman guard Jaida Hampton found her groove on the offensive end over a six-game (Dec. 2-Jan. 4) stretch. The Lansing, Mich., native tallied 10 or more points in five of those six games, and set a new season high in the final three games, highlighted by an 18-point performance in the conference opener at Tulsa. Against Tulsa, Hampton was 7-for-11 from the field and was responsible for 10 of the team's 11 points in the first quarter. She averaged 12.7 points per game during the six-games on 49.1 percent shooting.

Hampton Named to All-Tournament Team
Freshman guard Jaida Hampton was named to the Desert Division All-Tournament Team at the Duel in the Desert (Dec. 19-20). The Lansing, Mich., native scored a team-high and season-high tying 14 points in the Shockers' loss to Washington State on Dec. 20. Hampton finished 4-of-9 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line (season highs), while dishing four assists and pulling down three rebounds. She has led Wichita State in scoring four times and has five games of 10 or more points near the midway point of the season.

Offensive Rebounds > Defensive Rebounds
Redshirt junior forward Raven Prince is on pace to finish the season with more offensive rebounds than defensive rebounds. Through 16 games this season, Prince has pulled down 70 total rebounds and 41 of them coming on the offensive end. That means 59 percent of her rebounds are giving the Shockers another opportunity to score. Wichita State has 199 total offensive rebounds and Prince makes up 21 percent of that number. Only two other Shockers have more than 20 boards on offense this year - Sabrina Lozada-Cabbage (22) and Alyssia Faye (20).

ADN to Carry 15 Women's Basketball Contests
The American Digital Network (ADN) will produce 15 live women's basketball contests during the 2019 conference schedule, featuring 11 of the league's teams. All games will be available on Facebook on the conference's live event page, The American Digital Network Plus (facebook.com/AmericanDigitalNetworkPlus). Lincoln Rose and Angela Beck will return for their second season as the on-air talent for all 15 contests. The ADN will be in Tulsa for the first day of conference play, as the Golden Hurricane hosts Wichita State at the Reynolds Center. Every following week will then feature two ADN broadcasts until the end of February.

Home Sweet Home
Wichita State will play 18 games in front of its home crowd in 2018-19, marking the most home games in a single season. The Shockers have never played more than 17 games in a season on their own floor. Wichita State played 17 home contests in both 2008-09 and 2006-07 seasons.
