The Series vs. Memphis
Wichita State and Memphis have met just four times prior to Saturday's matchup, with the series all tied up at 2-2. The first meeting took place in November 2008 with the Tigers taking that contest in Memphis, 61-54. Wichita State is 1-0 vs. the Tigers in Wichita after securing the win last season on Jan. 10, 69-61. That victory marked the program's first-ever win in the American Athletic Conference and spearheaded a season-best five-game winning streak.

Last Meeting
Wichita State completed the season sweep of Memphis with a 77-64 road win on Jan. 27, 2018. The game marked the fifth win of the team's season-best five-game win streak. Rangie Bessard stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with a game-high 22 points to go with six rebounds, five blocks, three assists and two steals on 11-of-16 shooting. Cesaria Ambrosio tallied a season-high 19 points to go with six assists, while making seven of her 10 field goal attempts. Diamond Lockhart added 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists. WSU shot 54 percent from the field and forced 20 Memphis turnovers.

Scouting the Tigers

Memphis is 5-10 with wins against Jackson State, Mercer, Samford, Southeast Missouri and North Carolina Central. The Tigers dropped their first two AAC games against UCF, 68-55 and Tulsa, 46-39. Jamirah Shutes posts a team-best 13.8 points per game, while Alana Davis pulls down 8.8 rebounds to go with 11.7 points. Davis ranks 13th nationally and second in The American in offensive rebounds per game (4.0). Her six double-doubles are third in the conference and 35th in the country. As a team, Memphis averages 16.0 offensive rebounds per game to rank 26th nationally.

Hot Hand Hampton
Freshman guard Jaida Hampton found her groove on the offensive end over a six-game (Dec. 2-Jan. 4) stretch. The Lansing, Mich., native tallied 10 or more points in five of those six games, and set a new season high in the final three games, highlighted by an 18-point performance in the conference opener at Tulsa. Against Tulsa, Hampton was 7-for-11 from the field and was responsible for 10 of the team's 11 points in the first quarter. She averaged 12.7 points per game during the six-games on 49.1 percent shooting.

Hampton Named to All-Tournament Team
Freshman guard Jaida Hampton was named to the Desert Division All-Tournament Team at the Duel in the Desert (Dec. 19-20). The Lansing, Mich., native scored a team-high and season-high tying 14 points in the Shockers' loss to Washington State on Dec. 20. Hampton finished 4-of-9 from the field and 5-of-6 from the free throw line (season highs), while dishing four assists and pulling down three rebounds. She has led Wichita State in scoring four times and has five games of 10 or more points near the midway point of the season.

Offensive Rebounds > Defensive Rebounds
Redshirt junior forward Raven Prince is on pace to finish the season with more offensive rebounds than defensive rebounds. Through 15 games this season, Prince has pulled down 67 total rebounds and 38 of them coming on the offensive end. That means 57 percent of her rebounds are giving the Shockers another opportunity to score. Wichita State has 183 total offensive rebounds and Prince makes up 21 percent of that number. Only two other Shockers have more than 20 boards on offense this year - Sabrina Lozada-Cabbage (21) and Alyssia Faye (20).

ADN to Carry 15 Women's Basketball Contests
The American Digital Network (ADN) will produce 15 live women's basketball contests during the 2019 conference schedule, featuring 11 of the league's teams. All games will be available on Facebook on the conference's live event page, The American Digital Network Plus (facebook.com/AmericanDigitalNetworkPlus). Lincoln Rose and Angela Beck will return for their second season as the on-air talent for all 15 contests. The ADN will be in Tulsa for the first day of conference play, as the Golden Hurricane hosts Wichita State at the Reynolds Center. Every following week will then feature two ADN broadcasts until the end of February.
