WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State men's golf team opens the 2018-19 season with the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational on Sept. 10-11, held at Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington, W.V.

This year's team features two seniors that are hungry to add to their accomplished college careers. Senior Yannik Emmert led Wichita State in every statistical category in 2017 en-route to winning Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Year and all-conference honors, finishing last season off with a 76.38 stroke average.  Adrien Michellod is coming off his best performance from the 2017-18 season after finishing the year with a stroke average of 75 and placing 23rd in the American Athletic Conference Championship.

In addition to tournament host Marshall, Wichita State will have a chance to compete against 2018 A-10 champion and NCAA Regional qualifiers Davidson. Other teams in the tournament include Belmont, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, George Washington, Longwood, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Saint Francis, VCU, William and Mary, Wright State, and Youngstown State.

The first tournament of the season will feature 54 holes of championship play, with the course being a par 71. Along with Emmert and Michellod being in Monday and Tuesday's lineup, sophomore Zac Owens will make his collegiate debut. Freshmen Dawson Lewis and Brock Polhill will also compete in their first college meet, filling out the final two slots on Wichita State's scorecard.

Wichita State will begin play on Monday, with a staggered start from hole one beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Shockers will tee off again on Tuesday at the same time.
