FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Shocker women's team finished second, while the men's team placed fifth Saturday morning at the 30th Annual Chile Pepper Festival.

Sophomore Winny Koskei led the women's team to a second place team finish with 116 points. The Shockers finished four runners in the top-50, including two in the top-5. Koskei, the American Athletic Conference Outdoor 10,000m and 5000m champion, finished third with a personal best time of 16:36.5. Redshirt junior Rebekah Topham rounded out the top-5 finishing fifth with a time of 17:00.3

Yazmine Wright ran a personal best time of 18:03.5 to place 24th, followed by Winnie Kibet in 41st (18:18.7) and true freshman Halle Johnson in 56th with a personal best time of 18:32.8.

"Winny Koskei ran really well, she had an amazing race," said head cross country coach Kirk Hunter. "The course was soft and slow, the team adjusted to the rough conditions very well. Yazmine ran a really good race, a 24th place finish is a strong showing against this field and top-ranked Arkansas team."

No. 9 Arkansas women won the team title with 26 points, including finishing three Razorbacks in the top-5. Freshman Katrina Robinson of Arkansas won the individual title with a time of 16:15.3.

423 athletes and 51 teams competed in the women's 5K.

The men's team finished fifth with 174 points, including three Shockers finishing in the top-35. Captain Zack Penrod led the group finishing 20th with a time of 25:03.6, followed by sophomores Clayton Duchatschek in 33rd (25:28.1) and Ben Flowers in 35th with a personal best time of 25:31.3. Other point scorers for the Shockers include redshirt senior Pedro Montoya in 58th (25:54.7) and Alex Moen in 59th (25:55.0).

"I'm excited for Zack," said Hunter. "He struggled a bit this past week in training, but he raced aggressively today and that's what a champion does. A 20th place finish is a really great showing."

No. 14 Arkansas finished three in the top-5 to take the team title with 38 points. Frankline Tonui, an unattached athlete, won the race with a time of 24:05.4.

The men's 8K race featured 440 athletes and 49 teams.

The Shockers will compete next on Oct. 13, splitting the team and sending athletes to race at the Pre-Nationals in Madison, Wis., and the FHSU Tiger Open in Victoria, Kan.
