Shockers' Home Finale Tuesday vs. K-State

WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State will play its final home game of the 2018 regular season Tuesday night when the Kansas State Wildcats make the trip to Eck Stadium for a 6 p.m. start on COX YurView.

Scouting K-State
The Wildcats are 20-30 overall and 5-19 in the Big 12 with wins over Virginia Tech, Elon, Old Dominion two times, La Salle three times, Incarnate Word, Mercer two times, College of Charleston, Austin Peay, Omaha two times, Texas two times, Nebraska, West Virginia and Kansas twice. Losses have come against South Alabama, Indiana, Coastal Carolina, Old Dominion, Mercer, Creighton two times, College of Charleston two times, Austin Peay, TCU three times, Texas, Oklahoma State three times, Nebraska, Texas Tech three times, West Virginia two times, Baylor three times, Oklahoma three times and Kansas. They are led offensively by Will Brennan who is hitting .366 with 12 doubles, 20 RBI and 19 stolen bases. As a team, they are hitting .259 with a 6.05 ERA and .965 fielding percentage. KSU is led by head coach Brad Hill.

Wichita State leads the overall series with Kansas State 53-38. The Shockers also lead the series in Wichita 32-20.

Last Meeting vs. KSU
The last meeting between the two teams was May 16, 2017 in Wichita. The Shockers won 3-2 on a walk off home run from Luke Ritter. He finished 2-for-4 with three RBI in the game. Reliever Chandler Sanburn earned the win.

Jenista Named to American Honor Roll
Wichita State baseball student-athlete Greyson Jenista has been named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for the week of May 7-13. Jenista, a junior first baseman and outfielder from Eudora, Kan., led the Shockers to a three-win week by going 9-for-20 (.450) with eight runs, two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, five walks and a stolen base in five games last week. In the win over Oral Roberts on Tuesday, he was 1-for-4 and in the midweek win over South Dakota State he was 2-for-3 with three RBI, a double, a home run and two walks. In Friday's run-rule win over No. 22 USF, he finished 4-for- 5 with four runs, two RBI, a home run, a walk and a stolen base and in the finale he went 2-for-3 with two runs, three RBI, a double, two walks and a hit by pitch.

30+ Wins
Wichita State collected its 32nd win of the season on Friday against USF. It is the most wins by a Shocker team since 2013 when they had 39.

Tie
The 9-9 tie with USF on May 13 was the first tie for Wichita State since 1988. The Shockers and Creighton tied 3-3 on May 22, 1988 in the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championship game due to nonstop rain.

Jackson Hits First HR
Sophomore outfielder Alex Jackson hit his first career home run on Saturday against USF. He is the 13th different Shocker to hit a home run this season.

Bombs Away
Wichita State hit five home runs in Friday's win over USF. It was the first time with five home runs in a game since April 22, 2007 against Missouri State.

Walk-Off Run-Rule
Junior Mason O'Brien hit a walk-off run-rule home run on Friday against USF. The last time the Shockers had a run-rule walk-off home run was April 5, 2008 when Ryan Jones did it against Missouri State.

Career-High for Troutwine
Senior catcher Gunnar Troutwine scored a career-high five runs in Friday's win over USF. The last time a Shocker scored five runs in a game was April 6, 2011 when Johnny Coy did it against Alcorn State.

Sac Flies for O'Brien
Junior Mason O'Brien tied a school record with two sacrifice flies in the win over South Dakota State. He is now one of 13 Shockers to have two in a game and the first since Ryan Tinkham vs. Oral Roberts in 2015.

1,000 Putouts
Senior catcher Gunnar Troutwine collected his 1,000th career putout in the May 5 win over Cincinnati. He is just the seventh full-time catcher to reach that mark in school history.
