Sunday Matchup Pits Shockers vs. Golden Eagles

WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State will look to rebound from its first home loss of the season when Tennessee Tech comes to Charles Koch Arena Sunday for a 2 p.m. tip.

New Tip Times
This season the Shockers will tip 30 minutes earlier on weeknights and select weekend games. Contests will now start at 6:30 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. like in seasons past.

Win No. 300
Wichita State head coach Keitha Adams collected her 300th career win at the Division I level in the Shockers' overtime win vs. Missouri State on Nov. 10. She compiled 284 wins in her 16 seasons at UTEP and has accumulated 18 in her first two seasons at Wichita State. She has a career record of 303-228.

Oklahoma State Review
Wichita State dropped its first home contest of the season on Tuesday night vs. Oklahoma State, 60-47. The Shockers gave up 20 offensive rebounds and were outrebounded by 19, by far the most this season. Freshman Dawnyel Lair set a new career high for the third straight game with 15 points, while also grabbing six rebounds and swiping three steals. OSU's Braxtin Miller scored a game-high 30 points - the most by a Shocker opponent this season.

Youngsters
Wichita State's roster consists of eight true freshmen, one redshirt freshman, one sophomore, two juniors, one redshirt junior and two seniors. All told, the average age of the 2018-19 Shockers is just 19.2 years, making them the fifth youngest team in the country.

The Series vs. Tennessee Tech
Wichita State and Tennessee Tech have met just once prior to Sunday's matchup in Wichita. Tennessee Tech won the lone matchup on Dec. 22, 2015 in Cookeville by score of 54-48.

Last Meeting
Wichita State traveled to Cookeville on Dec. 22, 2015 and lost tightly contested matchup with the Golden Eagles, 54-48. Rangie Bessard tallied a team-high 14 points and 13 rebounds in a losing effort. She also added three steals and a pair of blocks. Jyar Francis added 11 points, but the Shockers only knocked down 32.1 percent of their shots, including 1-of-16 from three-point range. Tennessee Tech only shot 36.2 percent and turned the ball over 24 times, but came out with the win behind 21 points from Samaria Howard. Hannah Goolsby chipped in 13 points.

Scouting the Golden Eagles

Tennessee Tech is 4-2 to open the 2018-19 campaign after wins against Cumberland (88-55), MTSU (68-64), Western Carolina (77-58) and Charleston Southern (77-55) and losses at Xavier (70-60) and Old Dominion (80-73). Jordan Brock leads TTU at 13.3 points per game. Three other Golden Eagles average more than 10.0 points per game: Kesha Brady (11.8), Lacy Cantrell (11.2) and Akia Harris (10.2). Harris dishes out a team-high 4.5 assists per game and Cantrell grabs 6.5 rebounds. Anacia Wilkinson ranks fifth in the country in blocked shots with 18. TTU ranks in the top 10 nationally in free throws made (6th) and turnovers per game (10th). Head Coach Kim Rosamond enters her third season with Tennessee Tech. She has a career record of 21-44 in her brief tenure with the Golden Eagles.



4-0 Start
The Shockers opened the season 4-0 for the first time since 1996-97. Wichita State defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff (76-39), Missouri State (63-60), Sam Houston State (63-55) and Houston Baptist (68-50) while holding those four opponents to a combined 29.5 percent shooting from the field. The defense has been even better guarding the three-point line. Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Missouri State, Sam Houston State and Houston Baptist combined to shoot 18-for-80 from beyond the arc, good for an 22.5 percent clip.

Bri Stuffs The Stat Sheet
Senior Sabrina Lozada-Cabbage did a little bit of everything in Wichita State's win over Louisiana Tech on Nov. 24. The Santa Fe, N.M., native poured in game highs of 16 points, 16 rebounds and five assists, while also adding two steals and a block. It marked her first double-double of the season and fourth of her career. The 16 rebounds were the most by a Shocker since she pulled down a career-high 17 vs. Bradley on Feb. 19, 2017. Lozada-Cabbage tallied her 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting, which brings her season field goal percentage to 68.3 percent (28-of-41) through six games.

Five More Minutes
Wichita State needed overtime to take down Missouri State on Nov. 10, marking the first overtime game for the Shockers since defeating Loyola (65-62) on Feb. 14, 2016 in Charles Koch Arena. Wichita State is 18-20 all-time in overtime contests, including a 9-8 mark at home. It is the seventh November overtime game in program history, four of those wins.


Home Sweet Home
Wichita State will play 18 games in front of its home crowd in 2018-19, marking the most home games in a single season. The Shockers have never played more than 17 games in a season on their own floor. Wichita State played 17 home contests in both 2008-09 and 2006-07 seasons.
