WICHITA, Kan. – Evansville scored one run in the top of the 17
th inning to earn an 8-7 win over Wichita State in game two of a three-game series.
Alec Bohm went 2-for-9 with four RBI and two home runs, while
Trey Vickers went 3-for-5 with two RBI.
Starter
Keylan Killgore went 1.1 innings and gave up two runs on four hits with no walks and one strikeout.
The Aces jumped on the board in the top of the first. With one out, Kenton Crews singled and scored on a single from Andrew Tanous to give UE an early 1-0 lead.
Travis Tokarek led off the second with a double and moved to third on a bunt single from Stewart Nelson. After two strikeouts, Troy Beilsmith singled to drive in Tokarek and increase the Aces lead to 2-0.
Trey Hair homered in the third to push the lead to 3-0 and the Aces added a run in the fourth and the fifth for a 5-0 advantage.
Trey Vickers' solo home run in the seventh got the Shockers on the board and
Alec Bohm's solo shot cut the lead to 5-2 in the eighth.
The Shockers rallied in the ninth. With one out,
Travis Young walked and
Luke Ritter singled. With two outs, Bohm hit his second home run of the game to tie the score at five.
Tanuous' two-run double gave the Aces the 7-5 lead in the 16
th inning, but the Shockers answered with RBI singles from Vickers and Katzfey in the bottom half to tie it at seven.
Stewart Nelson's home run gave the Aces the 8-7 win in the 17
th inning.
The Shockers and Aces wrap up the series on Sun., May 14 at 1 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
