-Wichita State (10-10, 5-4) will look to extend its winning streak to six in a row Sunday afternoon when the Shockers play host to Missouri State (10-10, 6-3).
-The Shockers are in fourth in the MVC standings at 5-4 behind MSU, at 6-3, and in third.
-Former Shocker Head Coach Linda Hargrove was named Shocker Head Coach Jan. 22. She was the fourth head coach in Shocker history, and is now the eighth head coach. She was 113-136 at WSU in nine seasons, and had a collegiate coaching record of 429-248 in 26 seasons.
-Hargrove is now 115-136 at WSU in a 10th season and 431-248 overall.
-Assistant Coach Kirk Crawford was the acting head coach for WSU's wins against Bradley and Illinois State Jan. 20/22. WSU defeated Illinois State, 67-45, and Bradley, 65-54.
-The Shockers are 490-536 in conference play since 1982 in the Gateway (1982-91) and Missouri Valley Conferences (1992-Present).
On the Series ... WSU trails the all-time series, 48-35, but leads 19-17 in Wichita. WSU has lost three-straight in the series after winning 20-of-24 from 2006-15, and had a 10-year winning streak in Wichita until a 77-57 loss a year ago.
On Missouri State... Missouri State is 4-0 in MVC road games this season, winning by an average of 21.3 points, and is 20-7 in its last 27 away games overall and 15-2 in the last 17 MVC road contests dating to Feb. 20, 2015. Sunday is the 1,400th game in program history, with MSU owning 824 victories to rank 33rd among Division I schools.
In the First Meeting... Missouri State won, 73-62, in Springfield on Jan. 6. MSU scored 28 points and shot 67 percent in the fourth quarter, putting the game away with a 12-0 run for a 59-47 lead with 5:23 remaining. Missouri State did not trail in the game's final 33 minutes. WSU was led in scoring by
Tamara Lee's 17 points. MSU's Liza Fruendt led three double-figure Bear scorers with 19 points.
Five-Straight... Wichita State's five-game winning streak is it longest since the 2014-15 season when the Shockers won 12-straight to close out the regular-season and three-straight tournament games.
Martin Moves Up… With 18 blocks this season senior
Brittany Martin has 131 for her career and is 20 from moving into the Shocker Top 10. The Shocker record is 256 by Theresa Dreiling from 1979-83.
Bessard Adds A Double... Junior forward
Rangie Bessard led WSU to two road wins, averaging 14.5 points and 9.0 rebounds for the week. She also shot 40 percent (12-30) from the field and made 5-of-7 free throws. At Indiana State she had 12 points and 11 rebounds, her fifth double-double while at Loyola she had 17 points and seven boards while shooting 70 percent (7-10) from the field.
T Lee Has a Weekend... Junior transfer
Tamara Lee shot 54.4 percent (6-11) form the field in the Shockers two wins on the road, averaging 10.0 points. She also averaged 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals. At Indiana State she had 11 points and at Loyola she had nine.
Rangie Fills It Up... After 20 games, the Shockers are led in scoring by Bessard (15.8) and Mike (9.1). Bessard also leads WSU on the boards with 6.9 a game. She had 17, 20, 16 and 12 points, respectively, in the first four games of the year, but was injured in the Stanford game and missed the Northeastern and Arkansas State games. In the 14 games since returning she has had double-figure scoring in 13-of-14 games, is averaging 16.0 a game in Valley play.
