WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State's All-American
Hunter Veith set a Wichita State school record, Heskett Center record and American Conference record to win the Shocker Multi heptathlon with 5,998 points.
Veith won the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.10 and the pole vault with a mark of 4.76m/15-7.25, placed second in the 1000m with a personal best 2:47.18, to score 2,589 second day points. Veith finished the first day with 3,409 points after winning three of the four events on day one. His total of 5,998 breaks a Wichita State school record (5,813), Heskett Center record (5,715) and American Conference record (5,636). The senior All-American also set personal best in the 60m with a time of 6.90, shot put with a mark of 13.76m/45-1.75 , and the 1000m 2:47.18.
Runner-up
Ben Johnson finished the heptathlon with a personal best 5,447 points to place second. Johnson also set personal best in the long jump (6.69/21-11.5), shot put (14.05m/46-1.25), 60m hurdles (8.28) and pole vault (4.66m/15-3.5)
Third place finisher
Kaden Griffin finished top three in three of seven events, including a first place finish in the 1000m with a personal best time of 2:45.70.
On the women's side competing in the pentathlon,
Kendra Henry finished third setting a personal best with 3,309 points. Henry set personal best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.44 and the long jump with a mark of 4.77m/15-7.75.
Junior
Carlea Miles placed seventh in the pentathlon with 3,086 points, competing unattached freshman
Hannah Cole placed 8th with 2,906 points, fellow freshman
Jalen Milligan ninth with 2,854 points and
Sydney Wilson 11th with 2,636 points.
Returning NAIA Pentathlon champion Chelsea Baker of Friends University won the Shocker Multi with 3,776 points and former Shocker
Gavyn Yetter placed second with 3,577 points.
