Tyler Named MVC Pitcher of the WeekWichita State baseball student-athlete
Cody Tyler has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 25-May 1.
Tyler, a sophomore left-handed pitcher from Terrell, Texas, led the Shockers to a road win on Friday at Southern Illinois. He pitched a complete game shutout in Wichita State's 8-0 win.
In nine innings, he allowed just four hits with no walks and tied his career-high with five strikeouts. He retired 15-straight Salukis at one point and recorded 17 fly ball outs in the game. It was his second complete game of the season and he improved to 3-1 in MVC play.
It was the first nine-inning complete game shutout by a Shocker pitcher since Kris Gardner did it against Indiana State on May 23, 2013.
It is the first Pitcher of the Week honor of his career.
Jenista Coming on StrongFreshman
Greyson Jenista has continued to improve this season. Over the last 29 games, he is 33-for-99 (.333) with 21 runs, five doubles, one triple, four home runs, 22 RBI and 21 walks.

Dayton Dugas is leading the Shockers in MVC play with a .385 batting average. Over the last 19 games overall, he is 22-for-61 (.361) with 11 runs, four doubles, one triple, two home runs, 15 RBI and three stolen bases.

Vickers StreakingSophomore shortstop
Trey Vickers has been on fire over the past seven games for the Shockers. He is 12-for-23 (.522) with two runs, four RBI and a sacrifice hit over his last seven games. He had a career-high four hits on April 19 at Kansas as he went 4-for-4. He has raised his overall batting average to .295.
Freshmen PitchersWichita State got two huge pitching performances from two freshmen in the Southern Illinois series over the weekend.
Codi Heuer pitched six shutout innings in relief on Saturday while allowing just three hits with no walks and three strikeouts. It was a career-long outing for him and the three strikeouts tied his career-high.
Clayton McGinness pitched 7.1 strong innings in Sunday's game. He allowed three runs on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts. It was also a career-long outing for him in his first start in MVC play.

Rader Heating UpThird baseman
Chase Rader heated up for the Shockers in a MVC series at Southern Illinois over the weekend. He went 5-for-12 (.417) with three runs, two doubles, one home run, two RBI and a sacrifice hit. He also had a perfect fielding percentage in eight total chances. In the game one win, he went 3-for-4 with a run, a RBI, a double and a sacrifice hit. In game two, he went 1-for-5 with a run and a double and in game three he went 1-for-3 with a run, a RBI and his second home run of the season.

Defense ImprovingOver the last 10 games, the Shocker defense has improved. Wichita State is fielding .986 during those 10 games with just five errors in 349 total chances. During that span, the Shockers have had six errorless games.

Walk-Off for BohmWichita State collected its first walk-off win of the season on April 24 against Bradley. Freshman
Alec Bohm singled to centerfield in the bottom of the 10th to give the Shockers a 10-9 win over Bradley. The last time the Shockers had a walk-off hit was May 12, 2015 when
Chase Rader had a walk-off single against Oral Roberts. The last time the Shockers had an extra innings walk-off hit was May 2, 2014 when
Tanner Dearman had a walk-off single in the 10th inning against Bradley.
