Scouting Oklahoma State
The Cowboys are 13-7 overall and have wins over Stephen F. Austin, UT Arlington, Incarnate Word twice, Indiana State twice, Missouri State, Abilene Christian three times, Dallas Baptist and Michigan twice. Losses have come against UT Arlington, Stephen F. Austin, North Carolina three times, Indiana State and Michigan. As a team, they are hitting .243 with a 2.41 team ERA and a .973 fielding percentage. They are led offensively by Donnie Walton who is hitting .333 with five doubles, one home run, 11 RBI and seven stolen bases. The Cowboys are led by head coach Josh Holliday.

Oklahoma State leads the overall series 56-35. The Cowboys also lead the series in Wichita 25-14. Head Coach Todd Butler is 1-2 in his career against Oklahoma State.  

Last Meeting vs. OSU
The last meeting between the two teams was March 24, 2015 in Stillwater, Okla. Oklahoma State won the game 8-3. Daniel Kihle went 2-for-4 with a RBI for the Shockers, while starter Tyler Jones took the loss.

Tewes Out for 2016 Season
Wichita State baseball student-athlete Sam Tewes will miss the rest of the 2016 season after injuring his right elbow on Fri., March 11 in a game at Cal State Fullerton.
Tewes, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Lincoln, Neb., will undergo Tommy John surgery on March 31. The surgery will be done by Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Fla.
Tewes made four starts this season as Wichita State's No. 1 starter and pitched 14.2 innings with 18 strikeouts.

Walk it Out
Wichita State walked 17 times in Friday's game at Nebraska. It was the most walks for the Shockers in a game since 2006. WSU also walked 17 times against Hawaii-Hilo that year.  The 17 walks are fifth in the Shocker record books for walks in a game. The school record is 20 set against Nebraska in 1987 and Benedictine in 1997.
 
First for Jenista
Freshman Greyson Jenista collected his first career home run on Tuesday against North Dakota. He is the fourth Shocker freshman to homer this season. In the four games last week, Jenista hit .333 with six RBI and four walks. For the season, he is hitting .462 with runners in scoring position.
 
Nebraska Boys
Tanner Kirk and Alec Bohm returned to their home state of Nebraska over the weekend and put up impressive numbers. On Friday, Kirk led the Shockers to a 17-5 win over the Huskers and went 2-for-5 with a career-high five RBI and a double. Alec Bohm played in all three games and went 3-for-6 (.500) with one RBI.

Tinkham a Candidate for Senior CLASS Award
Wichita State baseball student-athlete Ryan Tinkham has been named one of 30 candidates for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award.
Tinkham, a senior first baseman from Simi Valley, Calif., was named a preseason second team All-American and a preseason all-Valley selection. He earned second team all-Valley and first team all-region honors in 2015. Through 15 games this season, he is hitting .255 with 11 runs, five doubles, two home runs and 12 RBI.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. The complete list of candidates follows this release.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
The 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four C's of community, classroom, character and competition. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2016 College World Series® in June.
