Scouting New MexicoThe Lobos opened the season in Honolulu, Hawaii, last weekend and took three of four from UH. As a team, they are hitting .316 with a team ERA of 2.17. They are led offensively by Jack Zoellner who is hitting .500 with three doubles, one home run and 14 RBI. UNM is led by head coach Ray Birmingham.

Last Meeting vs. UNMThe last meeting between the two teams was a three-game series in Wichita, April 24-26, 2015. The Shockers swept the series by scores of 6-5, 8-6 and 6-5.

Tewes Named MVC Pitcher of the WeekWichita State baseball student-athlete
Sam Tewes is the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week after the opening weekend of baseball season.
Tewes, a redshirt sophomore from Lincoln, Neb., led the Shockers to a season opening victory over Northern Colorado on Friday.
He pitched six shutout innings and allowed just one hit, while walking two and striking out six. The Bears hit just .053 against the right-hander.
After giving up a one-out double in the first inning, he did not allow another hit in his final 5.2 innings. His two walks both came in the fourth inning, but he also struck out three in the inning.
It is the first MVC Pitcher of the Week honor of his career.

Bohm Impressive in DebutFreshman
Alec Bohm had an impressive debut for Wichita State over the opening weekend. In his first collegiate at bat, he hit a two-run home run as a pinch hitter in the season opener against Northern Colorado. He finished the weekend 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, four RBI and an intentional walk. He is the first Shocker freshman to ever hit a home run in their first collegiate plate appearance.
