TULSA, Okla. - For the second time in as many days No. 63 Wichita State dropped a hard-fought match, this one coming to the hands of No. 23 Tulsa, 4-3, Sunday evening at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
With the tough defeat, WSU dropped to 4-3 on the season, while the Golden Hurricane improved to 4-2.
The Shockers took the doubles point to open the match for the second straight day and collected wins in singles at Nos. 1 and 2.
Senior
Tin Ostojic recorded a straight sets win at No. 1 singles over No. 51 Or Ram-Harel, 7-5, 6-4. It marked the first win over a nationally-ranked foe this season after registering seven last season during his junior campaign.
Miroslav Herzan defeated Carlos Bautista at the No. 2 spot in three-set battle, 1-6, 7-5, 7-6(6).
Tulsa would go on to claim singles victories on courts No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.
Up NextWichita State heads out west for a two-match road swing in Colorado next weekend against Denver on Friday, Feb. 5, followed by Air Force on Saturday, Feb. 6. WSU then opens a six-match homestand on Friday, Feb. 12 vs. Nebraska at Genesis Health Club.
