SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Wichita State women's tennis team, ranked 39
th nationally, opened up its spring dual schedule by taking 6-1 decisions from both Saint Louis and Missouri State on Friday at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
Winners of 11-straight regular season duals, dating back to last year, WSU (2-0, 1-0 Missouri Valley Conference) went a combined 10-2 in singles matches and took 5-of-6 on the doubles courts.
With the win over MSU, the Shockers also upped their conference-record MVC winning streak to 70 matches.
"It was good to get everyone in the win column," WSU head coach,
Colin Foster said. "The courts were rather quick, which wasn't conducive to building rhythm and long rallies, but we played well for the first matches of the year."
WSU's doubles team of Pump-Guidetti and Schlotterback-Stevens each went 2-0.

Giulia Guidetti all won multiple singles matches, as well.
"More importantly, we competed well from start to finish and didn't get frustrated by any mistakes," Foster said. "We've got a deep, talented team, and we're excited for the challenges that our schedule presents."
The Shockers travel to Norman, Okla. Sunday to take on #35 Oklahoma in a battle of top-40 teams. First serve is scheduled for Noon.
