WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State scored four runs in the first inning on the way to an 18-2 win over Western Illinois in game two of a doubleheader.

Chase Rader went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Jordan Farris went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Starter Jeb Bargfeldt went six innings and gave up two runs on three hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

With one out in the first, Daniel Kihle and Chase Rader each singled and Ryan Tinkham walked to load the bases. Two errors by the Leathernecks allowed all three runs to score and the Shockers added another on a RBI groundout from Gunnar Troutwine for a 4-0 lead.

The Leathernecks answered with a run in the second. Chris Tschida tripled to right field with one out and scored on a groundout from Mark Garton to cut the lead to 4-1.

The Shockers used two more WIU errors to tack on two more runs in the bottom of the third for a 6-1 lead.

The Leathernecks used two singles and two wild pitches to score a run in the fourth to make the score 6-2.

Sam Hilliard led off the fifth with a double and came around to score on a single from Zach Reding. A fielder's choice from Trey Vickers scored Reding for an 8-2 lead.

WSU used four hits, six walks and three hit batsmen to score 10 in the sixth for an 18-2 lead.

The Shockers are next in action on Fri., March 20 at Southern Illinois at 6:30 p.m.
